ROLE - Account DirectorCLOSING DATE FOR APPLICATIONS - 16th May 2018Contextual researchAccount Directors rely on their broad knowledge of corporate issues, the macroeconomic and political environment and stakeholder concerns, whilst also staying on top of emerging trends, discourse and best practice case studies through research and analysis. They are deepening their understanding of a range of sectors and issues, but are also building expertise in specific areas of interest. Developing client briefs Account Directors are creative researchers and critical thinkers, distilling findings and using their knowledge to identify opportunities for clients. They play an active role in concept development, contributing ideas and helping explore the merits and possibilities for each communications initiative.  Content developmentAccount Directors develop the first draft of core materials, support other team members with the delivery and development of materials, and are expected to share pertinent ideas on strategic approach where possible. They consistently demonstrate clarity of thought when suggesting strategic approaches, with clear arguments and rationale. They are also expected to play an active role in the development of pitch or new business materials, unafraid to share ideas on how best to approach target clients.  Client-handlingAccount Directors are expected to know the status of all work-streams and keep the team up-to-date, acting as account drivers by ensuring that deadlines are met and deliverables are shared in a timely manner. They are expected to share pertinent ideas on how to improve deliverables or approaches, always considering how to make processes more straightforward or materials more useful for clients. They have strong relationships with clients and are recognised as a point of contact for information and materials by clients, team members and journalists alike. Account Directors have demonstrable presentation skills and strong ability to articulate their view in client meetings or calls. They are expected to share external knowledge or useful intelligence with clients that they may otherwise be unaware of. Account Directors are also developing confidence and ability in delivering strategic advice.  Internal role Account Directors are always expected to work with colleagues in a collegiate manner. Experience in delegating both sensitively and effectively is important, as Account Directors are expected to both oversee and facilitate the process of delivery to clients, whilst also supporting team members through idea generation.   CANDIDATE PROFILE REQUIREMENTSCandidates will have or be:·         Highly knowledgeable in financial and political issues and current affairs; up to date on international trends, key commentators and debates. ·         Experienced in advising international businesses on corporate crises, high-profile cross border transactions and investor communications, including strategic responses to activist shareholder engagement. Candidates will have worked as an advisor in these respects, internally or externally, to senior management.·         Experience working with corporations on the development of strategic communications approaches and core materials in cross-border M&As, international IPOs, and corporate crises, demonstrating familiarity with the relevant regulatory considerations or procedures. Candidates will have worked as an advisor in these respects, internally or externally, to senior management.·         Proven experience in top tier media handling, and strong relationships with key international media stakeholders ·         Proven experience in developing and executing senior leadership engagement, corporate positioning and / or corporate campaign strategies·         Preferred experience in cybersecurity advisory and cyber crisis response ·         Familiarity with the macroeconomic, political and financial landscape, the impact of political or macroeconomic change on corporations, and a clear view of how to engage with all relevant stakeholders accordingly·         A global perspective and will have worked with international businesses on issues across a range of sectors·         In-depth knowledge of the Asian market, in particular China, as this person will be expected to be involved with China-related transactions, issues management [and new business initiatives]·         Worked across multiple sectors and be able to demonstrate breadth of knowledge and experience, having identified trends and shared best practice across industries.·         A consummate communicator; an experienced writer with a track record in researching, interrogating and developing a corporate narrative. ·         A strong verbal communicator including fluency in English, with high EQ levels and an engaging presentation style. Candidates must be experienced in building trusted senior advisory relationships.·         Able to demonstrate excellent research and analysis for businesses; must be able to pull together and synthesize large amounts of data, across numerous sources (including networks, interviews and desk sources) in a timely but thoughtful manner ·         Experienced at producing world-class content for clients, including articles, reports, briefings and presentations. Excellent written English is required.·         Proven project and/or programme management experience.·         Good knowledge of the global media landscape is important.·         Self-confident and a self-starter.·         A natural team-worker and will prefer to work in a collegiate way.·         Educated to at least undergraduate level.
