What is the purpose of the role? Thames Water carries out 15,000 new water connections every year and deals with more than 45,000 requests to connect to a public sewer. In addition, over 90kms of new water main is installed each year just to meet the increasing demand for water from new developments. You will be working as part of a small technical team, responsible for working with planning authorities and housing developers to effectively capture, filter and respond to planning documentation on development sites, tracking the process from start to completion. You will be expected to maintain strong working relationships with these external stakeholders in order to develop a clear vision of future developments ensuring that Thames Waters' network and assets are protected or upgraded.What makes this role unique? This is a great opportunity to join an integral team within Thames Water. Establishing relationships with external developers and local authorities enabling you to provide vital information to the business so that it can plan upgrades to our water and waste water networks in line with the building of new homes while at the same time not adversely affecting existing customers. This role will give you a wealth of exposure to the clean and waste water industry and will allow you to liaise with a range of key contacts. It is a ground-breaking time for the water industry so an excellent opportunity to join whereby we are working more proactively and effectively with the customer at the heart of everything we do.What will this role involve? Day to day duties and responsibilities may include; Proactively work with Developers and Local Authorities to understand the locations and phasing of development. Maintain and develop internal and external relationships to ensure the interests of Thames Water are protected with respect to third party developments. To filter and coordinate third party planning application responses. Maintain and update the development tracking system and supporting systems to ensure all relevant information is captured. To support colleagues by undertaking preliminary analysis of local planning documents and subsequent amendments. Identify and inform of planning issues for inclusion in company Asset Plans. Assist in the identification of clustering opportunities for strategic solutions. Contributing to process, service and efficiency improvements.What are we looking for? To be considered for this role, you will ideally have some account or case management experience, responsible for managing multiple 'customers' at one time. Previous experience in a customer service or advisory role would also be strongly considered. You will be naturally inquisitive and must be proactive in your approach. Previous experience in the water industry would be advantageous, however not essential. The ability to communicate effectively across all levels of an organisation, both verbally and in writing is crucial. You will be confident communicating over the phone as well as email, and you must have a keen eye for detail. An understanding or awareness of housing developers, local authorities or highly regulated industries would be advantageous. Strong Microsoft office skills are also necessary.Thames Water information and salary details This role is offering a salary of up to £23,000 and will be based from our site in Maple Lodge.
