Joining us, you’ll become an integral part of a dynamic team that spans nationalities, cultures and backgrounds, drawing together people from around the globe and reflecting our commitment to international placements. Department Overview A vacancy has arisen in the Accounting Control Group team of 10.  Currently the team plays a key role in the Finance Department in ensuring that the integrity of data within the General Ledger (GL) is maintained to the highest degree. The team undertakes daily accounting interface and GL controls. The objectives are to apply financial controls to ensure the consistency of data between the GL and the bank's administration systems, to monitor accounts in the GL (ensuring they are correctly used). In pursuit of these objectives the team undertakes a multitude of daily and monthly controls that cross all the banks financial systems and product lines. The team is customer focused with individuals becoming specialists in particular systems and products and offering support to other departments. As a member of the team your responsibility will be to manage the accurate and timely completion of daily and monthly tasks allocated to you. You will be responsible for the production and analysis of reconciliations of the general ledger against a variety of source (back office) systems ensuring all outstanding items have been followed up for clearance. You will monitor and reconcile control accounts within the GL and in doing so will take full responsibility for updating the general ledger accounting records.  Job Description Proven experience of:Monitoring specific control accounts within the GL  Daily controls across various admin systems and the GL ensuring that they are in line with each other, resolving any discrepancies or issues arising Provide explanations and supporting backup for issues outstanding on the daily and monthly recs, highlighting valid reasons Covering of other essential controls as directed by line manager Accounting data entry management Regular liaison with other areas of Finance and the middle and back office to investigate discrepancies. Skills and Qualifications  A qualified candidate working within Financial ServicesA candidate currently working in financial services with relevant experience (particularly of working with the GL)  Essential Skills and ExperienceCandidates must have a good understanding of accounting control and reconciliation issues Strong understanding of Capital Markets derivative and banking products and the accounting for trades across the full life cycle, valuation and impairment. Experience of Credit Derivatives IRS, CCS and Pnl computation on FI products. Proven ability to present to senior management on accounting and control topicsProven track record of working successfully within a finance operating model involving close daily interaction between onshore and offshore team Experience of working in an accounting control function and working closely with operations teams within an investment bank.Experience in applying controls to ascertain the integrity of data within the General Ledger Understanding trade representation from an operating system and mapping to the accounting Excel skills to intermediate levelHands on clearance of cash breaksAbility to analyse issues into constituent elements and identify root causes and solutions Attention to detail Expresses technical information logically and conciselyCandidates must demonstrate that they are a self motivated with the ability to learn quickly and work independently.  Preferred Access skills to intermediate level desired but not essential.Knowledge of Internal TradesAudit background   Core Competencies The following core competencies are required for this job: Communication clearly, efficiently and effectively Initiative Team Working Problem Solving/Analysis Flexibility/Adaptability Integrity Location: LondonSalary: competitiveClosing date: 03/10/2017 View full job description
