Some travel will be required to London and throughout England.Accountable to: A senior member of the NHS England Analytical Service. The exact line management responsibilities are to be determined in line with business priorities. **Fixed Term – until 31/03/2018**Key responsibilities:We welcome analysts from a range of backgrounds, both inside and outside of healthcare. Candidates should be numerate, have experience in using different analytical techniques (e.g. statistical / operational research / economics) and be keen to build on this experience. Expertise in Excel, SQL and other techniques to handle large datasets are welcomed, but not essential.Analytical work supports the full breadth of NHS services commissioned, and includes both on-going provision of information and analysis and project work, including finance, operations and delivery, quality improvement and direct commissioning. Analysts in the NHS England South Region will be in a unique position to influence how national policy translates down through the regions to help make real improvements to local services. Key priorities include analysis to support processes of assurance and accountability, commissioning and transformation of NHS services, quality and safety of services, finance, and policy and strategy development. Individuals will be focused on particular areas, where they can build up expertise and move around to support different projects as required by the team.In particular the post holder will:• Be highly numerate and use a variety of analytical techniques to provide high quality, timely analysis and intelligence relating to key priorities of NHS England. These priorities will include assurance and accountability, commissioning, transformation, quality and safety, finance and policy and strategy development. • Be adaptable when finding analytical solutions to problems, to analyse and triangulate data in innovative ways and present findings clearly to a range of audiences.• Have good communication skills and be able to work effectively with people with different perspectives to get the most out of stakeholder relationships.• Support teams to ensure that the portfolio of tasks/projects is planned, managed and delivered effectively, be calm under pressure and able to juggle competing priorities and tight deadlines.• Ensure accurate and open communication and co-ordination with a range of organisations and individuals, researching and drafting correspondence and papers and ensuring the management of specific tasks, lead reporting and analysis across a range of specialties, functions and projects.• Be a key member of the team as well as supporting effective communication and stakeholder management, both internally and externally.Interview date and location: Date TBC – Premier House, Reading, RG1 7EB For an informal discussion, please contact: harriet.roach1@nhs.net The NHS England Authority aims to be a modern and equitable employer.
