The fundraising team aims to increase lifetime value from our all our supporters by deepening their engagement with our cause. Position:                    Assistant Fundraiser – North of Scotland  Location:                   CHSS Regional Office, Inverness  Term:                         Permanent  Reports to:                North Regional Fundraising Manager Responsible for:        Regional fundraising supporters and event volunteers as appropriate Internal contacts:      Community Fundraising team                                    Corporate & Events team                                    Donor Care team                                     Systems & Support team                                    Volunteer Development Manager                                    Strategy & Communications departmentRegional Office colleaguesRegional colleagues across all departments                                      External contacts:     Supporters and volunteers                                    Regional businesses, associations, clubs, community groups                                    Relevant CHSS and Community Fundraising event partners and stakeholders The Organisation: Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland (CHSS) is an independent Scottish charity, whose aim is to improve the quality of life for people in Scotland after stroke, or diagnosis of a chest or heart condition.  We offer vital advice, support and information to those affected, arrange group and 1-to-1 support in the community and influence public policy to ensure that people get the services they badly need.  Our renewed ambition is to become Scotland’s leading organisation for person-centred, user-led community support for people with our health conditions.  This is a key post within the Fundraising Department, which will develop opportunities for raising more income from communities across the North of Scotland.    Purpose:As part of the North Community Fundraising Team:1.      Assist in maximising all forms of income and support for CHSS2.      Assist in developing public awareness of CHSS and its aims3.      Assist in developing new areas of income and support within the North of Scotland Most challenging aspect of the role: This role involves assisting in developing and maintaining varied supporter relationships to deliver fundraising targets including maintaining partnerships with third parties.  This role involves regular work away from the office with occasional travel across the North Region including some evening and weekend work. A high standard of administrative and communication support is required.  Key responsibilities of the role are to: ·         Support the North Regional Fundraising Manager in all areas of delivering the Community Fundraising Strategy in the North of Scotland; working closely with the Fundraising Officer (North East) to achieve specific aims and objectives.  ·         Provide assistance to promote, encourage and inspire fundraising within the community, including the development  of new areas of income and support from individuals, groups and businesses ·         Make the most effective use of fundraising resources through appropriate use of face-to-face meetings, telephone support, presentations, etc ·         Provide timely support and advice to people raising funds for CHSS and assist in developing long-term relationships with them linking them to appropriate CHSS products such as ‘In Memory’ funds ·         Use the ‘Raiser’s Edge’ fundraising database to record all potential and realised fundraising contacts. Work with the Systems & Support team to ensure accurate data records are maintained and all data adheres to data protection regulations and fundraising best practice. Support the Community Fundraising North team with basic fundraising admin duties  ·         Assist in the marketing, delivery and development of any assigned events / programmes and allocated areas of responsibility ·         Assist in the recruitment and development of volunteers in the region in order to enable fundraising and events to be as effective as possible ·         Support the Regional Fundraising Manager North in the successful planning and running of events, including set up, and break down, as appropriate  ·         Represent the Charity at 3rd party events across Scotland, including all set-up (which will involve lifting, carrying, etc.), as well as meeting and greeting supporters ·         Assist with delivering effective media relations and marketing, working with the Communications department to mutual advantage; work with any other marketing resources effectively. Work with the  Fundraising Officer (North East) as a social media representative to promote activities of the charity in line with current CHSS Social Media Policy  ·         Ensure compliance with any relevant Institute of Fundraising Codes of Practice across all programmes and areas of responsibility; ensure compliance with all accounting procedures, current legislation and CHSS administrative procedures for the recording of income ·         Build and maintain links with CHSS staff and volunteers; play a full part in the workings of the charity at supporter and organisational level and have a good knowledge and understanding of the work of other departments General responsibilities:·         To undertake other duties from time to time as directed by your Line Manager·         To comply fully with CHSS Policies and Procedures·         To participate in the CHSS appraisal and support & development process·         To attend training sessions and other activities as required The above job description is not exhaustive and is clarified to include broad duties inherent in the post. Evaluation and development of this post may, in time, indicate a need to revise duties herein    Chest Heart & Stroke ScotlandAssistant Fundraiser Person Specification  EssentialDesirable Aptitudes, Skills & Abilities·         A good communicator (face-to-face, presentations, etc) with the ability to create and maintain relationships using a variety of media ·         Good time management skills and attention to detail·         Excellent telephone manner, written style, listening skills·         An innovative attitude – willing to try new things and learn from experience·         IT literate·         Self-starter, willing to work alone as well as part of a team·         The commitment and tenacity to drive fundraising forward  Experience & Qualifications ·         Good understanding of social media and online engagement tools and the passion required to keep on top of the latest innovations in the area.·         Experience of online advertising (CPC/CPM)·         Paid or voluntary fundraising experience or Institute of Fundraising qualification·         Experience of working with volunteers·         Experience of Raisers Edge or other database·         Experience of event or project management·         Experience of customer service·         Higher English or equivalent Values /Attitudes ·         ‘Can-do’ attitude, always willing to help other team members ·         Commitment to the ethos of the  Voluntary sector ·         Willingness to work flexibly·         Commitment to self-development  Other·         Willingness to travel throughout Scotland and often work unsocial hours, including evenings, weekends and overnight stays·         Current manual driving licence and access to own transport with appropriate insurance    View full job description
