A part time 30 hours per week opportunity has arisen for an experienced Midwifery Practitioner with an interest in Infant Feeding to join our Infant Feeding Team, as a Band 7 Infant Feeding Co-ordinator.West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust has achieved stage 1 Baby Friendly accreditation.For this role it is essential that you are a Registered Midwife with evidence of ongoing professional development. You will be self-motivated, innovative and willing to undertake any additional appropriate training as required for the role.This person will take the lead in the implementation of the UNICEF UK, Baby Friendly Initiative; have strategic lead for the initiative, clinical/ breastfeeding experience, experience in auditing, experience in delivering breastfeeding training. Deliver hands on baby-friendly like training and practical support to help staff to achieve baby friendly status. This person will be responsible to:Promote and support breastfeeding to improve the breastfeeding Initiation and Breastfeeding rates at discharge. Give appropriate advice to mother who have made informed decision to artificially feed their babies to ensure safe and responsive bottle feeding. Supporting breast milk feeding for special needs infantsEducation and TrainingLead and facilitate the education of staff as required by the Baby Friendly InitiativeDevelop midwifery practice within the service, ensuring that staff are trained and developed to meet UNICEF/BFI standards and their own personal objectives.Facilitation of Mandatory Training programmes that deliver the UNICEF/WHO/BFI Standards to all levels of staff, including Obstetricians and Pediatricians.
