The post holder will report to Head of DWP Business Continuity  Purpose Inspirational and visible leadership of the DWP Business Continuity and Resilience Team and a business continuity exemplar across government, to develop and deliver a robust approach to Business Continuity Management in DWP. Delivery of the Departmental Business Continuity work programme in line with the BC lifecycle and the strategic direction of DWP ensuring policies and processes are fit for purpose and fully embedded within the Department. This is a national team dispersed over multiple locations. Key accountabilities •              Provide inspirational leadership and direction to a team of business continuity professionals in the DWP Business Continuity and Resilience Team.  •              Support DWP Ministers, senior managers, Civil Contingencies Secretariat and other government departments during times of disruptive events, and manage the Cross-Government Business Continuity Forum, contributing to Government-wide resilience. •              Support the Head of the Business Continuity Team in the identification and management of business delivery risks and provide assurance to senior managers of the organisational resilience of DWP in respect to Business Continuity and contingency planning. •              Deliver a strategy on Business Continuity professionalism, to ensure HMG is perceived as a leader of the Business Continuity discipline and that Business Continuity is developed as a recognised profession. •              Develop and align Business Continuity policies, objectives and standards for DWP and across wider Government, to ensure consistency and to drive improvements across Government. •              Promote and drive good Business Continuity practice, awareness and training throughout the Department, sharing best practice within DWP and across Government •              Actively engage with major change programmes and projects (e.g. Universal Credit) providing direction and support to ensure delivery includes robust and relevant BC arrangements are in place.  •              Actively engage commercial directorate experts to offer Business Continuity insight to underpin the selection of DWP suppliers via the formal contract tender process. •              Drive the strategy and engagement across DWP senior management to ensure successful implementation of the automation of Business Continuity services. •              Lead the emergency response function to provide a co-ordinated DWP response in the event of national emergencies. •              Lead the development and delivery of a robust approach to digital resilience within DWP working in collaboration with Digital colleagues to drive quality BC assessments and interventions that promote and embed resilience across DWP digital transformation initiatives. •              Provide incident management cover outside of normal business hours through an out of hours’ rota and on call arrangements. •              Ensure that the Business Continuity team is responsive to current and future challenges, and is able adapt to changes in flexible and innovative ways. Desirable knowledge, skills and experience •              Practical experience of applying Business Continuity Policy and ISO standard 22301 to support key BC work programme deliverables. •              Membership of the Business Continuity Institute or a willingness to work towards membership within 3 years. •              Have experience of positively influencing and actively developing broader priorities and Business Continuity work programmes across Government and or large public/private sector organisations. •              Able to demonstrate a clear understanding of how Business Continuity fits into the change project lifecycle/ agile delivery environment, with proven experience of working with Programme and Project SROs in order to deliver projects that are critical to DWP.  Additional Information We are a dispersed national team and, depending on location, the job holder may be working remotely from other team members.Frequent travel to other locations nationwide is expected as part of the role.On-call allowances are paid when providing out of hours cover.Candidates will be given an opportunity to express their location preferences during the application process.For further information and details of how to apply please visit the Civil Service Website View full job description
