Intelligence Assessment (IA) provides HMRC with a dedicated and professional intelligence analytical capability, delivering high quality products to customers across the department and wider Government. Our products increase HMRC's understanding of the changing threat and organised crime landscape. By informing planning and delivery groups, policy makers and operational caseworkers, IA influences departmental decision-making at all levels. IA also provides HMRC's contribution to national cross-agency threat assessments, working closely with partners to ensure HMRC's areas of responsibility are fully reflected in the wider UK organised crime and national security contexts. Intelligence Assessment forms part of the Analysis function within HMRC’s Risk and Intelligence Service Directorate. We have two primary purposes: a) Strategic assessment of threats for senior decision makers across the department. b) Operational and tactical analysis in support of RIS Intelligence and Fraud Investigation Service. Senior Officer Intelligence Analysts are technical specialists who are responsible for leading and overseeing the production of a variety of cutting edge analytical products that meet professional standards. The SO Intelligence Analyst provides clear direction, guidance, support and challenge to Intelligence Analysts ensuring they understand and consistently apply structured analytical methodologies. They lead, enable and support the Intelligence Analysts to use a range of innovative analytical techniques. SO Intelligence Analysts produce reports of the greatest scope, complexity, impact and priority to agreed timescales and professional standards and they supervise small ‘virtual teams’ on cross cutting projects. SO Intelligence Analysts are involved in the selection of new team members and develop business improvement ideas that enhance working practices. They work closely with the SO People Managers and G7 business leads to address performance and development of the analysts and to plan ahead, anticipating and responding to changing priorities, effectively using resources to deliver products to agreed timescales. SO Intelligence Analysts build and maintain strong working relationships with a range of customers.
