 Job Title:                    Care Assistant – (Residential) Responsible to:         Senior Care Assistant/Team Leader  Philosophy of Care:             We aim to provide a safe and homely environment where the unique needs of each individual are recognised and skilled staff are available.  To ensure that they can meet the needs of each individual, we offer training and development for all our staff and to ensure that service standards are achieved, we maintain a comprehensive quality assurance programme.­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­Job summary:                       To undertake duties related to the daily personal care of residents, in accordance with agreed programmes of care and under the general guidance of senior staff.  Outline of duties: ·         To work towards attaining as much involvement, independence and choice as possible for residents in the organisation of their daily lives, as determined by the individual programmes and operations policies. ·         To establish and maintain relationships with residents which will complement and contribute to the care programme and create a pleasant environment in which to live. ·         To participate in the preparation and serving of meals with residents where appropriate, taking into account residents’ personal preferences, choice and the need for a balanced diet. ·         To assist residents in the taking of meals in a socially acceptable manner and in an environment that is conducive to social interaction. ·         To be involved in all aspects of personal care, e.g., toileting, washing and bathing, assisting where necessary, and ensuring high standards of personal hygiene at all times.          ·         To undertake training and development courses as required and to contribute to the identification of own training and development needs. ·         To take part in scheduled day activities with residents in accordance with the care programme and to actively ensure that residents are involved in normal living activities. ·         To contribute to effective communications with residents, their relatives, friends, professional helpers and other members of staff, ensuring the continuity of quality and safety in the provision of personal care services. ·         To accompany residents on outings as required. ·         To undertake all necessary duties appropriate to this post.  A Job Description is not rigid, but acts as a guide to the functions of the postholder.   View full job description
