Consisting of 5 wards of 15 beds each the hospital provides care for men and women with mental illness and/or personality disorder in a medium/low secure environment.As a Charge Nurse you will be working within a transdisciplinary team that includes a range of professionals. You will be central to providing high quality care. Annual salary: £38,000Hours per week: 37.5 Our Charge Nurse role involves:Shift/resource managementEffective strategic resource management.Leadership decisions within the context of Charge NursePersonnel, competency and conduct management of junior staffManaging complaints and grievancesEnsuring adherence to policies and proceduresSerious incident reviews and implementation of recommendations.Ward Budget ManagementProviding an advisory role to nursing staffSupporting the implementation of local Clinical Governance StrategyClear application of clinical experienceSatisfactorily completing of objectives as agreed at appraisal and monthly supervision.Satisfactorily fulfilling core competenciesDemonstrating clear application of a continuing professional development portfolioContributing positively to the hospital leadership groupFacilitating the delivery of practice and supporting supervisionActively contributing to the Nursing Service Agreement, departmental Risk Matrix and action plan, and monitoring implementationCompleting designated annual mandatory trainingParticipating in and taking an active lead in organisational clinical and nursing audit programmesSupporting the senior management team at a local levelContributing to departmental and unit business objectivesEffectively managing positive change in the nursing departmentProviding strong and robust leadership in the clinical environment using the core skills of facilitation, negotiation, conflict resolution, teaching and delegationDeveloping a coaching culture within the clinical environmentDemonstrating and modelling professional behaviours at all timesSupporting the implementation of clinical and corporate governance for the management of patient informationParticipating in service-specific strategy and developmentEngaging in continuous professional development at an academic level; completing an identified course that will benefit the serviceTaking part in the out of hours on call system for a specific regionManaging the achievements and maintenance of the Care Standards ActProviding managerial leadership through co-ordinating the production of philosophies of care and local procedures. These are subject to annual reviewMonitoring the performance and conduct of staff and to take corrective action when necessary.
