MECX Group is a well-established and fast-growing rail and civil engineering specialists with an annual turnover in excess of £25m. Due to continued growth, we are currently looking for a reliable Civil Construction Manager to plan construction projects and oversee their progress in a timely and cost-effective manner. You will be responsible for budgeting, organisation, implementation and scheduling of the projects.The job holder is required to hold a PTS certificate.Job Title: Civil Construction Manager.Salary: Negotiable (dependant upon experience).Additional benefits: Car allowance, laptop and mobile phone.Hours: Full-time (40 hour week)Key Responsibilities and Duties:Managing a portfolio of projects from inception to completion.Reviewing the project thoroughly to schedule deliverable and estimate costs.Commercial, financial and contractual awareness and experience in cost estimating, forecasting and working to budgets and commercial/contractual/ financial criteria.Overseeing all on-site and off-site constructions to monitor compliance with building and safety regulations.Safety, environmental and quality consciousness.Co-ordinate and direct construction workers and subcontractors.Select tools, materials and equipment and track inventory.Meet contractual conditions of performance.Review the work progress on a daily basis.Knowledge and competence in applying management and company/industry standards and practices to day-to-day work.Competence in communicating effectively (both written and oral) with people from a variety of backgrounds.Prepare internal and external reports regarding job status.Analyse, manage and mitigate risks.Negotiate terms of agreements, draft contracts and obtain permits and licences.Ensure quality construction standards and use of proper construction techniques.Relevant successful construction experience in the railway industry at a practical and professional level is essential.Qualifications, work experience and skillsRelevant, successful, construction experience in the railway industry.Advanced knowledge of construction management processes.Expert knowledge of building products, construction details, relevant rules, regulations and quality standards.Familiar with construction management software packages.Competent in conflict and crisis management.Leadership and human resources management skills.Excellent time and project management skills.Professional consistent and effective project management and site management capabilities.Environmental awareness.Excellent communication skills.Commercial awareness.Educated to degree level in preferably civil engineering or related discipline, and/or with a high degree of practical railway and site knowledge.Benefits of working with MECX Group:At MECX, we are committed to the training and continued professional and technical development of our employees - we understand that out innovative techniques and specialist expertise are only as good as the people we employ.
