We are playing a leading role in new nuclear build in the UK to secure a bright future for the combined business and its employees.The Civil & Structural Engineer is the technical lead reviewing and accepting the changes to the design raised by the site contractor, responsible for managing interfaces between the construction contractors and the designers.During construction the Civil & Structural Engineer shall also work on interfaces between Temporary Works and permanent works for Temporary Works under the responsibility of the Senior Principal Contractor Temporary Works Coordinator.The Civil & Structural Engineer will come under the Permanent Civil Team Manager and be a subject matter expert for Site Engineering.The post holder will work closely with the Designer, Site Contractor, Project Manager, Construction Manager, Commercial Manager and Key Stakeholders of the activities related to Civil and equipment in the Permanent Works Programs.The post holder shall supervise, coordinate and manage the design changes to ensure delivery on Quality in accordance with Regulatory and Technical Requirements.This post holder will:* Interface with other project specialists in the UK and France to ensure the change is comprehensively consistent with the design* Work on a day-to-day basis with the designer representative on site.* Have a good understanding of the regulatory and legal requirements of the designs in a UK context.* Have accountability for ensuring any changes are consistent with the specification and coordinated with the station overarching design* Ensure the design outcome achieves a system which is: value for money, fit for purpose, compliant and ‘future proofed’.* Provide technical expertise to the processes involved* Manage technical queries* Participates in knowledge sharing across the business.Principal Accountabilities* Process the requests for information, field change requests, and non-conformance documentation submitted to SET within acceptable timescales.* Attend Readiness reviews of Design Packages released for construction as and when required by design owners.* Ensure that processes comply with project quality procedures.* Work closely with the Site Design Liaison Team and Construction team to maintain the technical quality of responses (content / consistency / exhaustiveness / accuracy), construction programme and construction safety. * Actively report to the Permanent Civil Team Manager on risks and interfaces (technical & functional) and facilitate the resolution of all issues raised.* Identify areas of the communications system that could affect Nuclear SafetyKnowledge, Skills, Qualifications, Experience* Pragmatic and practical approach to issue management with strong compliance to procedures.* Demonstrable appreciation of the role and importance of legislative and industry requirements* Ability to identify opportunities for improvements to procedures, processes and/or systems.* Under broad supervision, defines own targets, draft programmes and action plans in order to deliver specific project / assignment objectives.* Under broad supervision plans effective implementation; identifying, tracking and managing the appropriate route to achieve critical tasks and deliverables.* Ability to resolve straightforward issues of low complexity/risk in own technical discipline/area.* Knowledge of presentational techniques.* Maintains accurate and timely records (whether systems, databases, spreadsheets).* Accuracy, tenacity, diplomacy, results-oriented and a team player* Excellent presentation, influencing and facilitation skills.By joining EDF Energy you will be part of a company committed to equality.
