This position requires you to declare any unspent convictions under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exemptions Order 1975), where prompted to do so within in the application process. You are not required to disclose any spent convictions.  The ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken and written English is essential for this.  Clerk to the Governors  Clerks will work an agreed number of hours per week (minimum of 15 up to a maximum of 25), term time only.  Hours worked per week will vary according to the meetings schedule/meetings preparation, but the total number of hours worked will average out each term to the annual contracted hours agreed.Grade: NJC Grade 6 scale point 6 (£20,138) pro rata, per annum) School Governance The School Governance team provides governor support and training, and an important aspect of that work is the professional clerking service that we offer to schools in the local authority. We are seeking to appoint professional clerks on a part-time basis to provide clerking cover for meetings held primarily in the Macclesfield/Wilmslow area. Whilst previous Clerk to Governors experience is not essential, you must be able to take accurate notes at meetings and produce comprehensive, accurate minutes in a timely manner. You should be reliable, efficient, tactful and able to deal with matters confidentially, knowledge of educational sector terminology, and ideally governance experience, is advantageous. All clerks will be enrolled in the National College of Teaching and Leadership clerks' programme as part of their professional development. Many governors meetings take place in the late afternoon and in the evening, so you should be prepared to work irregular hours and you must be able to travel to schools that may not be on public transport route.  For an informal discussion on this post, please contact either Cherrie Creager on 01270 686508 (Governance Officer) or Michelle Huntley on 07794 435915   (Senior Clerk to Governors)If you require assistance in completing your application form, please click the  for guidance and support.
