Applications are invited for this fellowship training post in Medical Ophthalmology based at the John Radcliffe Hospital Oxford available from May 1st 2018  for a period of 12 months in the first instance.Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust  provides the regional service for ocular inflammation for a catchment population of 1 million patients in the Thames Valley Region of England, caring for both children and adults.  The full range of  intraocular inflammatory and external eye ocular inflammatory conditions are treated and we offer a biologics therapy service. We also contribute ophthalmology care of patients in the multidisciplinary regional service for Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis. Oxford Eye Hospital provides  Neuroophthalmology catering principally for the Oxfordshire region but also to patients within the Thames Vallley Region in the United Kingdom. We offer a neuroophthalmology service for neurosurgical and neurology patients attending OUH NHS FT.  Additionally, we  are a national centre for the treatment of neuromyelitis and neurofibromatosis 2 ophthalmic patients as part of a national multidisciplinary service. We have a dedicated teaching schedule for both neuroophhthalmology and uveitis aimed at developing medical ophthalmology specialists and also offer exposure to medical subspecialty clinics for those intent on developing knowledge of these conditions. As a major international ophthalmic research unit, we strongly encourage research and service development projects.  Here are Oxford Eye Hospital, we participate and lead in clinical trials supported by a dedicated Clinical Trials Unit for Ophthalmology. The OUH foundation trusts provides funding to support specialist training for a range of fellows with an expectation that all fellows should support core activities such as ophthalmic casualty services the anti-VEGF injection service and on-call rota in small doses.Candidates should be post CCT or equivalent and wish to specialise in MEDICAL OPHTHALMOLOGY.This post is suitable for doctors who have completed their training but seek experience in medical ophthalmology prior to obtaining a consultant appointment. It is not an approved training post.Any person who is unable for personal reasons to work full-time will be eligible to be considered for the post.   If such a person is appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis, in consultation with consultant supervisors.
