Due to nature of the role the hours of work will be variable and involve some evenings and weekendsHoliday entitlement:  20 days per annum plus 6 bank holidaysContract:  Fixed term to July 2020 East Durham Trust is looking for an enthusiastic and appropriately, qualified individual to become a key member of the team delivering the East Durham Creates programme – part of a national initiative aimed at improving engagement with the Arts in areas of traditionally low participation. The successful candidate will have a range of skills, knowledge and experience conducive to marketing, promotion and administration but most importantly will have a passion for widening participation and sees the value in what involvement with arts and culture can give people in relation to quality of life. The role also includes overseeing a specific aspect of the project known as Cultural Hubs, which supports a number of Community Venues as they increase their capacity in hosting and delivering arts activity.As well as being an area of low arts engagement, East Durham is also one of the UK’s most deprived communities and East Durham Trust is an established registered charity charged with tackling social and economic disadvantage. Purpose:-                                           To support the general delivery of the East Durham Creates programme which will develop and increase community engagement with arts and culture.  To be actively involved in the marketing and promotion of specific events and activities.  To assist with the ongoing monitoring and evaluation of the programme.  To co-ordinate key elements of the programme including “Cultural Hubs”, an initiative aimed at establishing local community facilities as effective venues for Arts activities.   Duties and Responsibilities            Communications:Work to support the development of East Durham Creates; a programme set up to engage more people from East Durham in arts and cultural activity. Ensure communications are maintained to an exceptionally high standard and are consistent with EDCs communications strategies. Support the EDC team in all areas of media relations when required. To develop and maintain an effective CRM system Responsible for the production and distribution of event signage and information, when required. Manage EDC's social networking profiles on a day to day basis, proactively developing creative, engaging content to promote events, activities and exhibits across the programme. Update EDCs website, working with relevant colleagues and partners as required, using in-house content management system (Wordpress format). Carry out the digital manipulation of images for use in a variety of media as required.Produce monthly data reports for all EDCs digital platformsi.e website usage, e-marketing, social media activity.To work across EDC and with partners to help all departments make best use of digital communication.  Engagement:  Co-ordinate the Cultural Hubs element of the Creative Programme Develop and maintain relationships with community venues and support all EDC events. Oversee the Creative Cinema element of the programme Work with venue staff and artists to ensure event spaces are ready for audiences. Develop volunteer engagement opportunities within the EDC programme and provide support for them at EDC events. Support the gathering of evaluation and participation data by encouraging audience members to complete East Durham Creates surveys, recording anecdotal information and taking photos/ videos at EDC events To provide data that informs Audience and Marketing Strategies for the programme, including reports to feed into Evaluation mechanisms. Actively promote the wider EDC programme to community groups and audiences at EDC events. Assist with programme scheduling and logistics Attend internal and external meetings as required. Support with East Durham Creates documentation, evaluation and reporting  Other duties:Organising, attending and occasionally leading meetings as appropriate (including the Cultural Hubs network). Respond to day-to-day enquiries and ideas from individuals, groups and organisations. Work with colleagues to promote EDC through attending exhibitions and external events. Carry out all duties in accordance with Data Protection. Undertake other duties of a similar nature and responsibility as required commensurate with the grade of the post. Support the general Administration of East Durham Creates project and East Durham Trust.  The post will be employed by East Durham Trust, a Registered Charity who host the East Durham Creates Project.
