Busy convenience store requires experienced full time convenience store assistantsAgeThe applicant must be over 18. This is as the job entails selling age restricted products such as alcohol and cigarettes.ExperiencePrevious relevant experience preferred but not essentialWorking days and hoursIt is also essential that applicants are flexible as regards working hours as the shifts will include morning, afternoon and late shifts. This will involve working 5 days out of 7 days each week.Main duties:- Operate the electronic till, including normal sales, handling multiple methods of payments, and also including other till functions such as voids, returns and similar functions that might normally be expected in a shop environmentOperating the Pay Point and Lotto terminalsServe customers as normally required in a shop environmentDevelop an understanding of the products sold in the shop sufficient to provide an effective level of customer serviceTake an active role in stocking shelves according to company procedures and policiesTake an active role in maintaining effective stock room controls, and in ensuring continued stock supply, and in maintaining stock record accuracyContribute to the general tidiness and cleanliness of the shop and conform to associated company procedures and policies. Participate in the housekeeping of all shop areasDevelop an understanding of sales skills in a shop environment sufficient to provide an effective level of customer service and performanceContribute ideas and suggestions, in order to achieve improvements in all aspects of the shops performance both individually and as a member of the shop teamBe flexible and mobile, willingly working on any task within the shop environment or in support of shop salesTake an active role in ensuring quality of your own work conforms to any standards defined, as well as that of suppliersTake an active part in any performance measurement, enabling the company to improveActively learn and implement new ideas, methods and skillsComply with and implement all of the organisations policies and proceduresComply in all respects with organisations policy, procedures and legislation in respect of Health and Safety, Licensing Law and Trading StandardsTo carry out any other duties as reasonably required   View full job description
