    JOB DESCRIPTION Post:Cook 1Scale:2Responsible to: Conference & Support Team LeaderDirect reports: Assistant Cooks  Key purpose of the role:To work alongside and support the Conference & Support Team Leader to provide a high quality food service at Fircroft College. Role outline – Main Responsibilities:Preparation, cooking and serving of meals for staff, students and visitors.Following set menu to include traditional meals, healthy options, vegetarian and some ethnic cookery, whilst also working creatively with the Team Leader to extend menu provision and choices served to ensure all diverse cultures and dietary requirements are catered for.To produce and display a typed daily menu on the serving counter, highlighting the healthy options and including calorie informationDay to day basic supervision of kitchen staff.To maintain the kitchen budgetOrdering of food from suppliers as required ensuring good value at all timesCo-operation with staff to help promote team work.Responsible for ensuring all food is cooked, garnished & ready for service at set times.Responsible for ensuring all current H & S and Food Hygiene regulations are adhered to at all times.Responsible for making sure all relevant paperwork is kept up to date and to EHO requirements.Applicants should be able to demonstrate knowledge and experience of standard cookery methodsResponsible for producing staff kitchen rotas to make sure the kitchen is covered at all times to include sickness cover and annual leaveTo make sure the kitchen is left clean and tidy at all timesAny duties reasonably requested and falling within the remit of the post as may be required. Generic for level: Ensure that identified best practice is implemented through our people, practices and processes. Supports colleagues to achieve. This Job Description is current at the date shown below, and is a guide to the work you will be required to undertake.  In consultation with the post holder, it may be changed from time to time by the College to meet changing circumstances. CONDITIONS OF SERVICE The appointment is subject to the Conditions of Service for Business Support Staff. SALARY  The salary range for this post is scale 2, points 15 and 16, currently from £19,390 to 19,959 per annum, pro rata. HOURS OF WORK Actual hours of work will be decided by the line manager to suit the needs of the college but will be based on 10.30am to 7.30pm, Monday, Tuesday and Sunday and 7.00am to 2.00pm Saturday, 32 Hours per week. ANNUAL LEAVE The post carries 32 annual leave days per annum, pro rata, plus eight public bank holidays, pro rata. 6 of these annual leave days must be taken during our shutdown period over Christmas.  10 days to be taken in line with business needs and in consultation with the Team Leader. PENSION SCHEME The College operates a ‘Peoples Pension’ pension scheme.
