This portfolio ranges from investment grade credits, to many leverage finance names, particularly focusing on UK names in the Banks and FinTech sector.Assist Senior Bankers in the UK in business origination across Citi’s product set, with particular focus on episodic and strategic financing transactions and assisting where appropriate the wider EMEA team.For UK based clients, the role also includes assisting clients in their day-to-day operations of flow related business. Provide financial analysis, risk assessment and analytical support for some of the key FIG Corporate Bank relationships. Support Banking Relationship Team and ICG product partners with specific responsibility for providing analytical support, risk assessment and monitoring of existing and new relationships in the Banking FIG portfolio.  Job Background/context: The Corporate and Investment Banking business provides financial advisory services on a wide range of strategic transactions (including acquisitions, divestitures, mergers and re-structuring) and capital-raising projects and debt financing projects, for corporate clients, financial institutions and governments worldwide. Our bankers work closely with our other business units to ensure client access to the full range of products and expertise within the organisation.The position sits within the Corporate Banking and Corporate Finance Financial Institutions (FIG) team. The Banker will support predominantly the client business in the UK and where appropriate the team in EMEA. The role involves a significant amount of client contact both face-to-face and by phone.The FIG team has credit and analytical responsibility for a large number of European-based multi-national companies. The Associate will be exposed to multiple sub-sectors and multiple relationship teams throughout Europe. He/she will also work very closely with our FIG Investment Banking colleagues on acquisition financing related opportunities.   Key Responsibilities: Member of deal team for the origination and execution of episodic and Corporate Finance transactions- Provide top notch complex credit and capital structure analysis both for internal and marketing purposes (financial modelling as well as credit and returns analysis)- Produce best in class presentations to support the marketing effort- Coordinate the contribution of different partners within the firm (Investment Banking, CMO, risk and local teams)- Lead the related internal approval processesAssist in managing the Corporate Banking relationships for UK FIG clients- Develop relationship with the clients’ head office teams as well as with key subsidiaries.- Engage daily with clients to deliver Citi’s full product set (flow and episodic) across the globe.- Develop and maintain knowledge of the developments in the core product set to explore and refer opportunities.- Maintain regular and frequent dialogue with product partners to deliver against the client agenda.- Interact with Citi’s network around the globe to ensure activities and origination work streams are co-ordinated across the franchise.- Client Management including assisting in developing appropriate credit strategies and attending client meetings and presentations as appropriate in managing day to day relations.   Support Banking Relationship Team and ICG product partners for EMEA FIG clients- Oversee credit analysis activities for a specified client set (transaction and periodic credit reviews).- Identifying industry trends and outlook and peer analysis.The associate will develop (i) in-depth understanding of the dynamics of the business, (ii) an understanding of clients’ priorities with the aim of identifying appropriate marketing opportunities, (iii) strong relationships internally with key product, risk and regional partners and (iv) relationships with client contacts with a view to over time developing own portfolio of client names. Development Value:Exposure to Senior Management and Senior Bankers within CIB and across the ICGOpportunity to develop world class broad based banking and client relationship skills.Opportunity to work in a large and complex organisation with a demanding customer base and in a challenging and changing business environment.Exposure to an open and multicultural working environment.An opportunity to develop a strong knowledge and understanding of credit and banking products as well as exposure to ICG products and Relationship Management teams.Opportunity to develop a unique knowledge of complex and strategic financings across EMEA. Knowledge/Experience:  Prior experience in Corporate and Investment Banking.Demonstrate a working knowledge of a broad spectrum of products and how they meet client needs.Experience with various clients, capital markets products, derivatives, credit, cash management, trade, finance and securities.Credit trained, used to taking a lead role in establishing the creditworthiness of counterparties.Experienced at client planning and coordinating input from multiple product areas.Strong knowledge of Accounting and Corporate Finance Advanced Financial Modeling experience.   Skills: Strong People skills – building a rapport with clients and internal stakeholders.Proactivity, identifying situations that could result in new business and developing recommendations tailored to the client.Organizational – Managing demands from several sources and working to deadlines.Verbal and Written Communication - Attention to detail and assuming responsibility over time for client contact.Quantitative and Financial Modelling skills.Analytical - assimilating new information quickly and relating it to the needs of the client base.  Qualifications: Banking background gained from a reputable firm where you will have gained first class training and development as a banker.Educated to degree level with a minimum grade of 2:1 (or equivalent experience). Competencies: Excellent interpersonal skills.  Able to create and sustain good personal contacts within the client group, balancing client requirements and Citi’s priorities.  Self - starter - prepared to take the initiative to follow issues through, whilst exercising judgment as to when to seek assistance.Networking - maintaining close contact with product and risk specialists within Citi.Team Player - being able to work in partnership with other individuals on day-to-day and long term projects.Credit analytics and Financial Modeling experience.Excellent computer skills especially Excel.
