About the Job The Operational Excellence Directorate enables the delivery of front line services for DWP through a wide range of teams working in the Operational Delivery Profession. Our work includes Change Management, Capability Building, Governance, Service Design, Product Management and Business Partnering. The job could involve a range of duties and we are seeking people who are adaptable and flexible. The job will include: • Being accountable for creating and working in an operational delivery environment to support the delivery of excellent customer service, quality and performance. • Creating an environment that promotes, supports and delivers improved performance through strong and effective leadership. • Providing visible and effective leadership by engaging with, and taking a personal lead in, communicating corporate changes. • Driving performance by delivering a high quality service to our customers and managing resources effectively in an ever changing organisational structure to initiate efficiencies and keep costs down. • Working with stakeholders to support effective decision-making and the delivery of key products and services. The essential person requirements are: • Strong leadership skills and an ability to communicate with clarity, conviction and enthusiasm. • Excellent people engagement skills and a focus on building collaborative working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders across the department. • Ability to inspire and obtain buy-in to changes by seeking feedback, listening and acting on this, encouraging discussion, initiative and development of new ideas in support of the long term vision of DWP. • Ability to interpret and analyse complex information, including Management Information, and other data to identify areas for action within and across teams. • Capable of driving performance improvement through proactive management of processes and ensuring compliance with performance management policies and procedures • The ability to manage a diverse workload and deploy resources to meet current and future customer demand • Commitment to delivering high quality public services • Proven ability to be adaptable and flexible. Additional Information: • These posts are subject to a 6 month probation period. • The full-time working week for DWP is 37 hours (36 hours for London based). You may be required to work at any time between the hours of 7.45am and 8pm on any day between Monday to Friday and 8.45am to 5pm on Saturday. You will be given advance notice of your personal schedule. • DWP is a family friendly employer and part-time and job sharing working patterns within these hours may be available, but must meet business needs. • Full learning and development for the role will be provided including Diversity & Equality. • Please note that successful part-time and job share candidates may be required to work full time for specific periods to complete and consolidate training.
