The School of GeoSciences is looking to recruit an experienced and capable individual to provide database support and development within the School. You will be joining a well-established IT Team and contributing to the ongoing maintenance and development of School databases and their associated reporting systems. You have significant experience of programming languages and web based technologies (e.g. Python, Pyramid Web Framework) that are utilised to interact with large RDBMS and you are familiar with using large RDBMS(e.g. Oracle). You will be expected to provide some generic technical support to users within the School, as part of helpdesk and desktop provision. You must have excellent communication skills, being able to explain solutions to other members of the team and also to non-technical consumers of the database reporting systems. You will take on more responsibility for the ongoing maintenance and development of services as your understanding and experience of the School RDBMS develops.This post is full time, open ended and available from 1 June 2018.The School aims to ensure equality of opportunity and holds an Athena SWAN Silver award.
