Specialist Regional Rehabilitation Centre for the Wessex region NEUROLOGICAL REHABILITATION OXFORD CENTRE for ENABLEMENT Band 6 Deputy sister/charge Nurse Primary Nurse Full time/ part time We provide specialist rehabilitation for individuals aged from 16 years old following a neurological incident. The majority of our patients have suffered vascular or traumatic brain injuries as a result of head injury, stroke, subarachnoid haemorrhage or other forms of brain injury from infection or cardiorespiratory arrest. The Multi-disciplinary Rehabilitation team consists of : Nurses Occupational Therapists Doctors Speech and language Therapists Psychologists Physiotherapists We have 26 inpatient beds with a mixture of single and double rooms, the average length of stay is 3-6 months; we work very closely with patients and their families to give them the best possible opportunity to grow as individuals and reintegrate back intosociety. We use a patient centred /goal planning approach to patient care and support patients and their families through a period of adjustment following a brain injury. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, highly motivated, dynamic and inspirational Registered Nurse to join our team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone to develop their leadership and management skills: we are looking a nurse with at least 2 years’ experience in acute medicine or in rehabilitation/disability or neurosciences. As Band 6 Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse you will be expected to take responsibility of supporting the ward Sister in managing, developing and leading the clinical unit. We are looking for a motivated nurse with vision who wants to help develop rehabilitation. You would need high levels of acute/ neurological or disability care skills and a strong belief in providing the best patient centered care possible and bepassionate about delivering high quality, holistic, effective, safe, and excellent care and strive to continually make improvements. We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills and an interest for working with individuals with disabilities. We can help you develop your leadership skills, your neurological and rehabilitation skills and support any other courses relevant to the role of team leader in this area.
