BBC Scotland is looking for a craft TV Director to work across all of our television news programmes.Directors operate in our multi-media newsrooms and studios across BBC Scotland and will be required to work across the entire range of NCA Scotland English and Gaelic language output – this includes Reporting Scotland, Timeline, Politics Scotland, Sunday Politics Scotland, An Là, as well as special debate programmes, hustings and extended coverage of major events such as elections.BBC Scotland’s News and Current Affairs department delivers high quality journalism on Radio, TV, Online and Social to audiences across Scotland and beyond.  We strive to lead the editorial agenda in Scotland, with breaking news stories at the heart of our journalism.  We aim to provide high quality analysis and deliver accurate and balanced reporting. For further information contact: Andrew Browne, Editor 0141 42(x27799)PLEASE NOTE:  This role includes shift working.The successful candidate will be required to direct live and pre-recorded programmes or inserts NCA Scotland programmes in automated, semi-automated and traditional galleries or on location (English and Gaelic language news programmes).Directors co-ordinate the planning and production of Television News output to ensure that editorial intentions are met and the highest production standards are maintained, and be an integral part of the editorial team - produce ideas, play a key role in production planning, give guidance and advice on story treatment in terms of production value, graphic design and technical viability.They use traditional craft and technical skills as well as new and developing technologies in order to produce the highest standard of news programmes.Directors are managed by the relevant Programme Editors. Have demonstrable experience in studio or location directing on live or recorded programmes and experience of live and recorded TV production Be familiar with broadcast technology, including automation and digital technologies, and complex vision mixing using broadcast communications equipment, paired with editorial, visual and aural awareness paired with creativity and innovation Have a broad knowledge of national and international news & current affairs as well as an awareness of editorial priorities and programme objectives Have the ability to plan ahead and demonstrate high level of organisation with great attention to detail Have good interpersonal and strong team working skills View full job description
