They will install, modify, overhaul, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electronics equipment of moderate complexity or a system of limited complexity. Perform unscheduled maintenance and preventative maintenance inspections on Tactical Air Navigation System (TACAN), Instrument Landing System (ILS), Air Terminal Information System (ATIS), Very High Frequency (VHF)/Ultra High Frequency (UHF) amplitude modulated transmitters, receivers/transceivers and VHF frequency modulated transceivers. Assist in the maintenance of radio/telephone control communications consoles, Digital Audio Legal Recorder (DALR) and Enhanced Terminal Voice Switch (ETVS) as directed by appropriate regulations, directives and local operating instructions. Set up and operate software controlled automatic test equipment to test and troubleshoot various components and assemblies of electronic equipment such as radio/radar receivers and transmitters, modulators, electronic analog and digital computer components, modules which contain integrated circuits, and printed circuit boards and assemblies. Perform the duties of a work center trainer and monitor. All work must be recorded and tracked in the Integrated Maintenance Data System to maintain records and to provide reports to management.GENERAL EXPERIENCE:  Please provide detailed work experience as it relates to the required competencies listed below, as this will be used to determine your qualification for this position.1.  Knowledge of and experience in the application of electrical and electronic theory; and operating electronic principles such as microminiaturized digital and solid state integrated circuits, transistors, diodes, tube circuits, antennas, signal transmission, oscillation, and amplification.2.  Knowledge of and experience enforcing safety regulations, practices, and procedures.3.  Skill in the use of electronic and conventional  test equipment such as computer controlled automated test equipment (ATE), oscilloscopes, pulse and signal generators, distortion and waveform analyzers, digital data generators, digital voltmeters, frequency generators, and special test panels; and the use of a variety of hand tools such as screwdrivers, drills, wrenches, soldering irons, and microsoldering units.4.  Ability to troubleshoot and repair malfunctions where circuit theory must be used to understand the operation of individual circuits and the interaction of other circuits to create a malfunction; and perform functional tests on items to determine the extent of repair required, make repairs, and replace defective components and parts. 5.  Ability to assist engineers in developing, debugging, or modifying diagnostic programs by identifying and investigating apparent contradictions between test specifications or test requirement documents and test programs.6.  Ability to use computer terminals to maintain records and document actions. Experience with computers, familiarity with Windows and current Windows Operating Systems, and Microsoft application software.OTHER SIGNIFICANT FACTS:  1. A pre-employment physical is required for this position. Physical effort is moderate to heavy.  Associated duties require stooping, bending, and climbing.Lifts and carries objects weighing up to 40 pounds and heavier objects with assistance.  2. Must hold a minimum category ‘B’ driver’s license, and be able to obtain/maintain a Government Driving license and Flight line driving license.3. Will serve as the element’s Backup Power Monitor – Ensure all work centre personnel receive generator operator training from the Civil Engineer Power Production work center in accordance with appropriate air force instructions.  Document all appropriate training in the relevant programs. 4. Will serve as theWork Center Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) Monitor – Ensure all squadron work centers participating in the ESD Prevention Program (ESDPP) have primary and alternate monitors assigned by appointment letter to the Unit ESD Monitor.  Accomplish an annual ESD survey on each work centre and provide a copy of the results to the mission support quality control office and unit commander.  Provide assistance and information on ESD matters.  Apply ESD protective measures and ensure work centrepersonnel comply with procedures.5. May be required to obtain an appropriate clearance to perform the work in sensitive areas.6. May be required to perform duties in a Temporary Duty (alternate work site) (TDY) status.7. On call duty or rotating shifts may be required to provide support or in emergency situations. Must hold one of the following: Ordinary National Certificate (ONC) in an electronic engineering discipline; City in Guild qualifications in an electronic engineering discipline; Minimum of four years of radio engineering maintenance experience2. Desirable:Higher National Certificate in an electronic engineering discipline; Experience in personal computer (PC) maintenance; Qualified ATC Radio or Navigational Aids Certifier experience.HOURS OF DUTY:Monday – Friday 0800-1630 hours.
