 VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT NUMBER:423 CES VA17 RPA 78125OPENING DATE:8 November 2017CLOSING DATE:20 December 2017POSITION TITLE:Environmental Program Manager and QA Specialist PAY: £13.76PAY PLAN:S-1301-09CATEGORYFull time 37.50LOCATION/ACTIVITY:RAF ALCONBURY BENEFITS:Benefits include paid annual and sick leave and opportunity to join Group Stakeholder Pension Scheme.  For additional information contact the LNDH team on 01638 544955DESCRIPTION: You will serve as a Physical Scientist (Environmental) providing environmental/physical science expertise with responsibilities in environmental compliance, project execution, quality assurance, and operations support.  Your assignments will require application of professional/scientific knowledge, skill, methods and techniques.  Your work will promote mission readiness by ensuring USVising Forces (USVF)complies with environmental policy and regulations.  Thiswill promote human health and safety while protecting natural resources.    GENERAL EXPERIENCE: 1. Knowledge of the professional practices, techniques, and principles common to physical/life sciences and/or civil engineering with application of these within the realms of environmental science and environmental project management.2. Ability to effectively manage all phases of scientific tasks including project development, execution, assistance, and training.3. Combination of education orexperience –a university degree with 1-3 years of professional experience in one of the following fields: environmental science, engineering, chemistry, physics, geology, or biology orONC/HNC or equivalent with 3-6 years of professional experience in one of these fieldsor 6+ years professional experience in one of these fields. 4. Knowledge of how to troubleshoot routine environmental physical science problems requiring investigation of unsanitary or questionable conditions in assigned projects. 5. Knowledge how to integrate scientific principles and practiceswith applicable Federal, State, and local laws, regulations, and other guidance in order to make recommendations for restoration, compliance, conservation, and/or pollution prevention projects.6. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with technical accuracy, both orally and in writing, 7.Ability to establish effective working relationships with others.OTHER SIGNIFICANT FACTS: 1. Work may require occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft. 2. A valid driver’slicense is required.  Minimum, CAT B.3. May be required to serve as a member of the Emergency Response Force during exercises or in the event of an actual emergency.
