The incumbent may be required to use their own private vehicle without reimbursement for additional travel expenses associated with reporting for duty at RAF Croughton.BENEFITS:Benefits include paid annual and sick leave and opportunity to join Group Stakeholder Pension Scheme.  For additional information contact the LNDH team on 01638 544955DESCRIPTION: The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a firefighter assigned to drive and operate firefighting vehicles of significant complexity engaged in structural firefighting, rescue, and assist in reducing and/or eliminating potential fire hazards to protect person, property, or the environment and performing non-invasive emergency medical procedures. Drives and operates firefighting vehicles, such as pumpers. Drives to the scene of the fire following a predetermined route or selecting an alternate when necessary and positions vehicle considering factors, such as wind direction, sources of water, hazards from falling structures,etc.  Operates pumpsand other similar equipment.  Performs airfield firefighting operations and structural firefighting duties for a variety of facilities, which may include research and/or large industrial complexes.  Maintains firefighting equipment and fire station facilities. Complies with health, safety, and environmental rules and procedures and performs work in a manner that enhances the safety of the work environment. Complies with health, safety, and environmental rules and procedures and performs work in a manner that enhances the safety of the work environment.  Performs dispatching duties within the Fire Alarm Communication Center (FACC), as directed.GENERAL EXPERIENCE: 1.  Knowledge and ability to drive and ability to operate firefighting vehicles of significant complexity; of the principles of hydraulics as they pertain to water flow, water pressure, water levels, line (friction) losses, etc.; 2.  Working knowledge of basic and specialized structural firefighting equipment (Fire alarm system operations, fire extinguishing equipment operation etc.), techniques, and procedures; and of basic and specialized building design, construction, and occupancy. 3.  Working knowledge of Basic Life Support techniques and protocols.4.  Working knowledge of safety requirements as outlined in applicable safety standards, regulations, and/or technical orders.5.  Skill in operating communications equipment.6.  Ability to maintain good working relations; to communicate orally and in writing; to lift and carry heavy loads; and to apply Basic Life Support techniques and protocols.OTHER SIGNIFICANT FACTS: 1. Employee must participate in a mandatory physical fitness program.2. Employee is required to use all safety equipment and clothing provided by management.3. The position requires the ability to discern colors, contrast, and depth.4. May be required to participate on Hazardous Materials Teams (HAZMAT).5. Member is subject to work the Emergency Communications Center (ECC).6. May be required to perform duties associated with the operation of aircraft arresting barrier equipment7. Employee is required to be certified by the DoD Firefighter Certification System as Firefighter II (includes Firefighter I), Airport Firefighter, Hazmat Awareness & Operations, Apparatus Driver Operator- Pumper, ARFF and Mobile Water Supply and Emergency Medical Responder. 8.  This position requires a valid LGV Cat C licence.MEDICAL/SECURITY REQUIREMENTS: Security clearance  ImmunizationsPre-employment medical FOOD HANDLERSDefence Barring Service (DBS ) certificateHOURS OF DUTY:Incumbent may be required to work a 192 hours over 4 week period schedule, The shift pattern total 192 hours over a 4 week period.  Work schedules may be subject to change depending on the operational needs of the organization as dictated by management, and may be subject to recall.WHO CAN APPLY: Citizens of the U.K., Nationals of European Community (EC) Countries, and Commonwealth Citizens, other Foreign Nationals, and Stateless persons provided no restrictions have been imposed as a condition of continued residency in the UK.
