Come and join our community which is developing the future of flight through our “Wing of the future” programme and researching the next big aviation concepts and subsequent technologies, within our new Airbus Wing Integration Centre. We have 2 exciting new opportunities available in Airbus Filton for a Fluid mechanical Engineer. We are seeking  Fuel Systems Engineers to work within our highly skilled, cross-functional team to gain and deploy expertise across a range of fluid mechanical tasks. Specifically, we are seeking a candidate with a high level of experience in systems design and verification. The ideal candidate thrives in an agile environment and has a passion for resolving diverse technical problems. They will be required to support the continuing development of in-service programmes and the certification of new modifications including new fuel types.  Our Fuel and Inerting Systems interface with a huge number of other aircraft functions including Wing, Fuselage  and Empennage Structures, Electrical Systems, Powerplant,  Auxiliary power unit (APU), Avionics, Flight Handling and we continuously find innovative ways of improving our systems and products to help our customers achieve future business needs.  The role will also require significant collaboration with fuel system equipment and resource suppliers and Airbus teams from Customer Services, Chief Engineering, Programmes, Safety, Airworthiness, Test, R&T and Procurement. The objectives for this role include: o    Acting as a focal point for a particular sub system within Airbus Fuel systems.o    Plan and complete fluid system design tasks using a range of analysis tools and methods with good knowledge of fluid mechanic principles o    Provide resource estimates and programme plans to support fluid mechanical tasks to completion o    Support the development, qualification and maturity testing of new sub-systems. To ensure strong customer focus additional responsibilities of the job are to:o    Report progress on a regular basis, in a comprehensive and timely mannero    Attend and present design aspects at design reviewso    Liaise with System Safety and Control / Indication design teams to ensure completeness of design   Skills As the successful candidate, you must be able to demonstrate the following: Required Qualifications and Skills o    Degree in Engineering or a related discipline, or a demonstrable understanding of fluid handling systems and equipment and an HND in engineering or related disciplineo    Good understanding of Fluid mechanical principles o    Familiarity with fluid system development, preferably within an aerospace context. o    Ability to be flexible and agile within an innovative changing environmento    Experience with managing a system development and supplierso    Ability to use judgement to make technical recommendations based on incomplete or conflicting design datao    Experience of producing technical documentation of a high standard to accurately record design evolutiono    Experience of requirements V & V processeso    Ability to influence and coach stakeholders, and make informed decisions  Additional Desirable Qualifications and Skills o    Familiarity with systems engineering processeso    System definition to safety, reliability, maintainability and particular risk requirementso    Understanding of fuel characteristicso    Airworthiness Regulationso    Specific knowledge of aircraft fuel tank vent systems o    Experience of use of computer based analysis tools with an understanding of their limitations   Please ensure that a covering letter detailing motivations and suitability for this position is included in your application. Applications will be accepted from April 13th 2018 to May 13th 2018.  We offer: o    Excellent competitive salary with yearly reviewso    Total remuneration package made up of Basic Salary, Performance Bonus & Success Sharingo    25 days holiday (Ability to buy 35 additional hours) plus bank holidayso    Pension Scheme Defined contribution pension scheme with scale matching contribution o    Flexible Benefits based on grade – Multiple options including health care and car optionso    Flexible working hours & practices (including Friday half-day) o    Onsite social clubso    Strong career development opportunities (learning path, opportunities to move internally, UK wide and internationally) ">Click here to watch an interesting video View full job description
