We currently have an opportunity for a Food Service Assistant to join our team. Main responsibilities Assist as directed with all aspects of the preparation, presentation, service and cleanliness of the unit to the Company’s standards.Comply with all Company and statutory regulations relating to Health & Safety, safe working practises,hygiene,cleanliness,fire and COSHH.This will include awareness of any specific hazards in the work place and highlighting any near missesComply with all Company and statutory regulations relation to Food safety, safe working practices, allergen awareness and allergen safe working practicesWork to high standards of personnel performance, hygiene, appearance and cleanliness at all timesCommunicate well and demonstrate a pleasant, polite, efficient caring and friendly service to customers in all areas of the catering departmentEnsure that food is prepared, presented and served in a clean hygienic environment to the contract specificationAssist at times by serving customers at the counter and operating the till if required checking floats and cashing up at the end of serviceEnsure tables and accompaniments are left clean and tidy and adequately stocked at all times during the duration of service timesComplete all necessary documentation for each service within the unit compliance standardsTo undertake a stock take of all food commodities on a frequency as determined by the catering manager/supervisorLoad service counters to ensure sufficient supplies throughout the service period, food is presented in clean, correct containers and counters are clean throughout the complete times of service. Layout is in accordance with agreed service level planogramsTo prepare beverages to client specificationTo ensure you receive coffee skills training and become competent on the machine and knowledgeable of the ingredientsTake ownership of drinks equipment and ensure any maintenance and performance issues are reported to your manager/supervisor immediatelyTo ensure that grind and dose checks are carried out on a regular basis to ensure perfect espresso every timeTo ensure adequate supplies are ordered on a daily/weekly basis within line with the needs of the business Brush and mop floors dailyUndertake all aspects of cleaning equipment, walls (up to 6ft),fixtures, fittings, pots, cutlery, glassware, microwaves, hot counters etc. to the required standards according to the cleaning rota or as directed by Catering manager/supervisorUndertake training and team meetings as required e.g. food hygiene health and safetyAssist at any special ad-hoc functions, some of which may occur outside working hours.Report any customer complaints or compliments and take some remedial action if at all possibleReport immediately any incidents of accident, fire, theft, loss, damage, unfit food or other irregularities and take such action as may be appropriate.To actively promote the vision of “improving the quality of Daily Life” for the Client and customers of the Scottish ParliamentWork as a team to promote harmonious working relationships within the Sodexo teamCover in other areas during periods of business downtime, holiday and sickness as directed by direct line manager/supervisorCarry out other reasonable tasks as directed by managementIdeal candidateExperience in a food service environmentGood customer service skillsGood communication skills – written and verbalThe ability to demonstrate great team workAbout the companyIn the UK and Ireland, Sodexo employs some 35,000 employees to deliver integrated facilities management services to clients at over 2,000 locations in the corporate, healthcare, education, leisure, defence and justice sectors.
