Community Living and Support Services Ltd are looking to expand their team.We provide support to adults aged 18-65 years old who have learning disabilities/learning difficulties and or mental health needs, who live in their own homes around the Birmingham area.A brief summary of the tasks involved will include:-Cooking meals and supporting service users to make their own meals, supporting service users to eat and drink at regular times following a healthy diet or prescribed meal plan, this may include help with feeding.Shopping for weekly supplies of food, COSHH and any other household essentials. You will also support service users with their own personal shopping.Supporting the service users with the safe keeping of their personal effects, budgeting and handling money, withdrawing benefits from their bank and reporting any concerns to your immediate supervisor.Supporting the service users with dressing and undressing where appropriate. You will also support service users to take care of their clothing and clothing purchases, laundry, mending and ironing.Supporting service users to make their own beds and keep clean and tidy their own room and en suite.Supporting the service users with continence, use of the toilet, and personal hygiene. You may need to support the service to address their personal hygiene needs working with care plans and supporting to wash, shower and bathe, apply lotions to skin. You may be required to support the service user with hair care, foot and nail care. You may be required to support the service user with adaptive footwear, prosthesis and medical appliances.If you carry out a sleeping-in duty you will support the night shift staff towards ensuring that the service users are occupied until they choose to go to bed, you will provide activities and support as identified on the activity board and in the service users individual care plan, you will follow usual evening routines, until retiring yourself at 22:00hrs. You will be expected to rise from your sleep to support the night staff when required (you will record the time spent awake as additional to your usual working hours) until you retire back to bed.Supporting the service users to have a restful night’s sleep this may include helping them to get ready for bed (personal routines) and you may also need to support the service user to get into and out of bed. You may also need to wake service users in the morning.Supporting the service user to address their activities of daily living and following their plans of care.Supporting the service users to take their prescribed medication according their individual care plan and PRN protocols.Supporting the service user to attend appointments and make use of their statutory rights to voluntary services, primary care services and to access recreational and social opportunities.Supporting the service users with social networking and the development of relationships and to maintain role within the family.Respecting the service user as a unique individual who has role and community presence.Acting as a key worker and you will be expected to participate in service user reviews, care planning reviews, risk assessment meetings.Maintaining the home environment to a reasonable standard as identified in the daily household chores file, this will include light gardening duties. You will be required to report any health and safety concerns to your immediate supervisor.Use all personal protective equipment and following infection control, manual handling, fire safety, food hygiene health and safety and medication policy and procedures to minimise health and safety risks to self and others.Report all accidents and incidents that occur whilst in or outside of the home (whilst at work) to your immediate supervisor so that an accident form can be filled in and risk identified.Participate in all service users daily activities and may include swimming, going to the gym, you may also be required to participate in activities that are outside your usual working hours, attend day trips and holidays.Experience would be an advantage, but not essential as full training will be given.40 hours per week and 1 sleep in duty.
