Our services cover education, housing, substance misuse treatment and the prevention of reoffending.This is an exciting opportunity enthusiastic English and Maths Tutor to join a small team delivering a Study Programme to disadvantaged learners at the Nacro education centre in Dover.The English and Maths Tutor will work as part of the Dover teaching team to ensure learners achieve the appropriate English and maths qualifications (Entry level Functional Skills and GCSE) while developing the learners' employability, personal and social skills. This unique opportunity will allow the post-holder to develop learners' confidence and help them progress to mainstream education or work. None of our classes have more than 10 learners to enable you to build meaningful and effective working relationships.This role will be based at: The Nacro Dover Education Centre, 2nd Floor, Maybrook House, Queens Gardens, Dover, Kent, CT17 9AHDuties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:- Deliver training and support to 16-19 year olds on Nacro's Study Programme (all ability levels from Entry Level to GCSE)- Ensure all relevant young people achieve Functional Skills/GCSE qualifications- Experience in working and delivering Functional Skills & GCSE's to challenging/disadvantaged client groups- Ability to work to tight deadlines- Develop resources and deliver training programmes to service users- Carry out initial assessments of the service users- Create support plans and regularly monitor these- Use resources efficiently and effectively, ensuring proper use and security at all timesThe successful candidate should have experience in guiding a diverse group of clients through the requirements of an awarding body such as City & Guilds and AQA. As well as the ability to identify preferred learning styles and engage difficult-to-reach young people.As a successful candidate you should have:- A level 4 teaching qualification (Certificate in Education & Training (CET) or an equivalent qualification)OR- A level 5 teaching qualification (Diploma in Education & Training (DET), Cert Ed, or an equivalent qualification)AND- GCSE English, Maths and ICT (or equivalent qualifications at level 2 or above)Salary is dependent on qualifications held.DBS check is required for this roleBenefits offered28 days a year annual leave with the ability to accrue 1 day of additional holiday for every year of service up to 5 years plus bank holidays; pro rata for part-time employees Pension schemeSeason ticket loanWorking 35 hours per week, plus paid lunch break (40 hours in total); pro rata for part-time employeesAs a committed Investor In People (IIP), continued professional development is central to our people and performance management activities.
