JOB TITLE:                                      GUEST SERVICE ASSISTANT   FOOD & BEVERAGE REPORTS TO:                                  GUEST SERVICE MANAGER DIRECT SUBORDINATES:                        None  SCOPETo ensure the highest standards of hospitality & and welcome are demonstrated at all times whilst complying with all relevant policies & procedures for the Holiday Inn Express Brand Standards. To ensure all Health & Safety legislation is met and/or exceeded in respect of food hygiene, food preparation and display..PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES ·         To be fully cognisant of all relevant Food Hygiene, Fire & Health & Safety legislation e.g. HACCP, COSHH·         To follow all Security, Health & Safety regulations as laid down by Company Policy in the Employee Handbook & General Code of Conduct document.·         To Act appropriately & in accordance with the above.·         To ensure punctual timekeeping & rostered duties are adhered to so as not to place excessive stress & strain on the food & beverage operation or on any other hotel department.·         To carry out all Food & Beverage duties following procedures as outlined in the Standards Training Manual.·         Ensure that all incoming products are undamaged and are being stored by the supplier correctly in terms of temperature & hygiene on carrier vehicles and report to your HOD or Duty Manager if standards have not been met.·         Maintain established minimum/maximum stock levels of all products and equipment as required to run an efficient operation to maintain customer satisfaction.·         Issue Food & Beverage in accordance with hotel’s policies & procedures and in keeping with the HIE Brand Standards.·         Prepare the Great Room for service ensuring that tables are clean & laid appropriately with menu & accompaniments and any items which may be deemed necessary to promote & upsell the hotel. Additional crockery & cutlery to be available throughout entire service times.·         Ensure that buffet is fully stocked of all products at all times during service to meet and or exceed the expectation of the guests.·         To provide a hospitable service so as to meet and/or exceed the standards as laid down in the Standards Training Manual.·         Whenever possible to anticipate guests’ needs, to be aware of all written and spoken requests and to carry out these requests in a courteous & helpful manner.·         Service any extraordinary orders (within reason and the realms of the HIE Brand Standards) of food & beverage promptly and as required.·         Check for customer satisfaction throughout the service·         Ensure that guest feedback is reported to your HOD or Duty Manager daily so that positive feedback can be communicated to staff at staff meetings and negative feedback can be acted upon accordingly on a timely basis.·         Clearing of tables & prompt re-laying.·         Complete tasks on cleaning schedule ensuring standards required are maintained and/or exceeded.·         Report any maintenance defects to your HOD / Duty Manager as & when required. RELATIONSHIPSInternal:           Hotel Employees – To be aware of any special events, communications or requirements on a daily basis.Guest Service Manager - To discuss day to day operations of the F & B department and provide guest feedbackExternal:          Hotel Guests – To ensure Guest Satisfaction is met and/or exceeded in keeping with Heartbeat scoringSuppliers – To ensure that Food, Health & Safety Regulations are met in accordance with legislation QUALIFICATIONSExperience: Previous Food & Beverage experience                      Accredited Basic Food Hygiene Certificate essential                     An accredited level of education in English & Maths required  PERSON SPECIFICATIONHighly Customer Service orientatedPersonableOrganisedDeveloped Communication SkillsInterpersonal Skills / Team Player The statements in this Job Description/Person Specification are intended to describe the essential nature and level of work being performed.
