Our client is looking for an experienced Housing Officer to work on a 37 hour per week contract role to start on the 01-03-18 until the 30-04-18 with a likely extension to he contract role. Hours: 9:00 am to 5:30 pm, Monday to FridayTo provide an efficient housing management service to Client and Leaseholder owned proprieties within for the clientTo provide a pro-active and customer focused housing management service; predominantly within a geographical areaTo ensure the delivery of an accessible housing service to customers that fulfils its legal and contractual obligations on its estatesTo maintain and to promote good customer service and relationships.By being a technology equipped mobile worker, the post holder is expected to identify and resolve customer issues by a regular and visible presence on estates; ensure estates are safe and well maintained; and provide advice, information and reports to assist colleagues within the Housing & communities Directorate on any housing matter. EssentialRecent and relevant experience of housing management duties including allocations.Experience of dealing with customers in one to one situations.Must have experience of accepting responsibility for decisions taken, and to work on own initiative within guidelines. 5 GCSEs or equivalent to include English. A basic understanding of housing legislation and law.Be able to operate a computerised Housing Management system. Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel Be able to demonstrate empathy with customers.Be able to demonstrate an ability to understand, interpret and make decisions in matters of Housing Policy.Have an understanding of the issues of housing, estate management, health and safety and how these impact on the wellbeing of customers and the responsibilities of landlordsKnowledge of issues affecting tenancy and leasehold management, rights and responsibilities and the enforcement of tenancy and leasehold conditionsMust have good all round interpersonal skills and ability to deal with people at all levels establishing and meeting need with tact and diplomacy.Must ensure the diversity of all is respected and valued and addresses the needs of individuals when making decisions.Must be able to withstand pressure and make judgements without rigid attitudes.Must be self-motivated, assertive but tactful.Champions the values of the Client and works across departmental boundaries and actively promotes the knowledge and services of the team.Must be willing to attend and participate in all relevant training programmes.Must have good oral and written communication skills.Must hold a current driving licence and have access to personal motorised transport which will be used for visiting tenants in their homes and carrying out estate inspections.Must have a good work attendance record.Must have a flexible approach to duties and be willing to attend occasional evening meetings.      View full job description
