Head of Private BankingLocation:28 Finsbury Circus, LONDONSalary:CompetitiveClosing date:26 October 2017Type:Permanent/Full Time Purpose of role:FBN Bank is largest retail bank and financial services organization in Nigeria.  With an international network, we combinein-depth local knowledge, togetherwith a global reach to provide full service banking services, wealth management and advisory solutions to our clients.The global Private Banking business is dedicated to providing bespoke traditional banking services, wealth and advisory solutions to our high net-worth and ultra-high net-worth clients leveraging on our unique heritage and long history.As a part of the global Private Banking team, the successful candidate will lead a team of Relationship Managers to aggressively drive the growth and profitability of the Private Banking UK Hub, and the development of the franchise as the Private Bank of first choice in our target niche. Primary Responsibilities of Role: The Job holder would manage a team of Private Bankers, coaching and leading from the front to maximize synergies within the FBN Group and the global Private Bank as well as its stakeholders to achieve the following;Relationship Management and SalesEffectively manage an assigned book of existing Private Banking clients.Develop a robust client’s prospect list, and ensure their full conversion into active clientsDrive the upsell/cross-sell of wealth management and retail banking solutions to clients.Grow assigned customer investment portfolios by deepening existing relationships.Ensure that clients are properly profiled applying the applicable risk management tools and that only products that match their investment risk profiles and goals are prescribed to such.Aggressively grow Assets under Management driving the advisory capabilities of the team.Identify learning gaps in the team working closely with HR develop training interventions.Respond to AML transaction monitoring queries on client transactions that may be flagged.Develop dispassionate and objective relationships for the onboarding of third party fund managers and professional associations under due guidance Other Detailed Responsibilities•              Provide input to the development of the Hub budget as well itsstrategy plans.•              Ensure strict cost controls to keep the Hub operating cost within the approved budget.•              Work closely with all internal stakeholders as compliance, legal and marketing •              Attend all management and investment committee meetings and actively seek approvals that support the activities of the Hub.•              Develop partnerships and strategic alliances that would help drive the business growth and profitability of the Hub under guidance of the Global Head Private Banking.•              Arrange client investment education seminars as well as other engagements to strengthen the Private Banking Customer Value Proposition (CVP)•              Assume ownership for the Private Banking Customer Value Proposition in the Hub and ensure consistency of delivery under guidance and in full alignment of the FBN Global Private Banking CVP.•              Conduct market intelligence and environmental scans of competitors and provide periodic updates to management on the trends and insights. Skills and Competencies•              Strong understanding of economics and the global financial markets as well as investment products, including mutual funds, fixed income and equities.•              Understanding of Financial Planning and its role in the delivery of personal financial advice.•              Detailed understanding of Wealth Management   - Trust, Investment, and Insurance solutions.•              Understanding  of the operational risk framework particularly as it impacts Private Banking•              Research capabilities to maintain knowledge of, and ensure full adherence to all applicable regulatory requirements and compliance policies and processes.  Adhere to all standards, both legal and regulatory, to avoid exposing the Bank to undue risk. Conduct Requirements:Individual Conduct Rules: Rule 1: You must act with integrity.Rule 2: You must act with due skill, care and diligence.Rule 3: You must be open and cooperative with the FCA, the PRA and other regulators.Rule 4: You must pay due regard to the interests of customers and treat them fairly.Rule 5: You must observe proper standards of market conduct. Competence Requirements: Professional/Academic Qualifications: •              Bachelor’s Degree•              Level 4 at a minimum with an appetite to study to level 7   Experience/Knowledge •              Minimum 5 years relevant sales and service experience in Private Banking.                                                          •              Multicultural awareness, ideally with direct experience of the Africa/West African markets.•              Existing client relationship or strong network in the non- domiciled market detailed.•              Sales ethics matched by Sales aggressiveness.  Experience in Nigeria and West Africa preferable.•              Previous experience in asset management or investment Banking is an advantage.•              Demonstrable leadership experience and an ability to execute.•              Objective, rational and a good ability to consistently re-prioritise and meet deadlines.•              Excellent knowledge of private bank products, services and banking procedures. Leadership:  •              A dynamic personality who can lead by example and from the front.•              Great influencing skills over direct team as well as the bank’s wider network.•              Has clearly demonstrable leadership skill sets in private banking space.•              Leadership qualities i.e. Accountability, Focus and Decisiveness.•              Positive ability to take responsibility for the business and drive business forward in a compliant and controlled manner Interpersonal Skills:  •              Exhibits strong networking skills.•              Demonstrate good team player skills and understand internal and external customer requirements.•              Strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to deal with all levels, often in complex and difficult situations.•              Credibility with key clients as well as external asset managers. Languages:  •              Fluent in French would be highly advantageous  View full job description
