HIGH LEVEL ACCOUNTANCY APPRENTICE - NORTH TYNESIDE  ENGIE - Quadrant East, The Silverlink North, Cobalt Business Park, North Tyneside NE27 0BY ENGIE are recruiting for a High Level Accountancy Apprentice to be based in Quadrant East, The Silverlink North, Cobalt Business Park, North Tyneside NE27 0BY. This is a 36 months contract working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a starting salary of £17,000, with the opportunity to increase to £24,500 throughout the apprenticeship. You will have 20% study time either site based or with the learning provider, all details to be confirmed.Working towards a full accountancy qualification (level 7) over a period of 3 years whilst gaining valuable transferrable skills through practical work experience within our Business Finance Section providing Financial Management services to our client. The post holder may also be seconded to work in Client teams to gain additional experience.There is an expectation that the complexity, degree of autonomy and level of responsibility will increase over the three year period as skills and experience increase.To develop skills, knowledge and experience to enable the following duties to be undertaken:Use of excel to analyse data to provide supporting information for budget forecasting or reconciliationProcess and receipt of order requisitions via the in house supplier system.Check and reconcile income, expenditure and VAT informationCalculate and arrange recharges, where appropriateSupport month end and year end procedures by assisting in the compilation of debtors and creditors adjustmentsReconciliation of bank accountsPreparation and processing of journal transactions within the general ledger system under supervision.Support the implementation and monitoring of, accounting standards and procedures in accordance with Financial Regulations and Codes of Practice.Assist in the co-ordination and preparation of revenue and capital budgets for service areas.Identify breaches of budgetary control and provide accounting information to senior staff and assist in formulating action plans where overspending occurs within service areas.Provide financial and accounting advice to budget holders and managers including modelling, analysis and appraisal of complex projects or proposalsCoordinate and complete returns and grant claims, accurately and within required timescales.Develop the use of computer software for enquiry and reporting purposes.Assist in the implementation of changes arising from new legislation and developments in accounting codes of practice.Provide information for the Council’s external auditors, agencies and partners as required.Attend meetings and working groups as required.Perform Internal Audit duties involving the identification and assessment of internal controls and the testing of the operation of those controls and the underlying transactions.Essential Skills and Knowledge:Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to express solutions and ideas to colleagues and users at all levelsA demonstration of IT skills ability using: email, word processing and an awareness of spread sheetsAbility to explain routine tasks to others as directed,  and an ability to listen and follow instructionsAbility to input, extract and interpret information from manual and computerised information sourcesAbility to prioritise own workload and demonstrate planning and organisational skills and able to remain calm under pressureA logical approach to problem solving, numerate and analyticalAttention to detailEssential Disposition:To be motivated, enthusiastic and dedicated to achieving results and high standardsAbility to work consistently in an enthusiastic and professional manner, in order to promote a positive image of the Service and Engie.Ability to work as part of a team and to work unsupervised as requiredA commitment to equal opportunities and anti-discrimination policiesRespect confidentiality and Data Protection principles at all timesFor more information about ENGIE please visit:  Qualifications or Required Experience:Ideally have achieved, or expected to achieve, A levels or equivalents with 300 UCAS points (eg BBB), have GCSE or equivalent Maths and English at grade 4 or abovePC literateThis is an apprenticeship in accountancy therefore people who already have a degree qualification relevant to Accountancy need not apply.For this role you must have evidence of right to work in the UK.
