Human Resources Assistant (maternity cover) Full-time | Temporary (maternity cover) | £17,856-£19,853 P/A An exciting opportunity has become available for an enthusiastic individual who will raise the profile of the Human Resources team. This is a temporary role to cover maternity absence, ideally commencing in July.You will assist in providing administrative support on a wide range of HR & CPD issues, and provide high levels of service to individuals and managers across the College. They have informed the development of this strategic plan, in particular by reinforcing the primacy of the student experience to our future direction.  Purpose: To support the effective and efficient operation of the Human Resources service and actively contribute towards a quality service and provide a comprehensive and professional range of administrative and personnel services to support the management of the College, curriculum and service teams. Accountabilities: To take a proactive role in ensuring the compliance with HR systems, processes and procedures. To provide generalist HR advice and guidance to staff and managers, ensuring a consistency of process and fairness of treatment. Recruitment and SelectionOversee the recruitment and selection of staff, taking an active role in the interview process.  Oversee the complete recruitment and selection process to ensure effectiveness and comply with audit requirements.  Take responsibility for comprehensive checking of shortlists and interview arrangements.Ensure that the College is compliant with Safer Recruitment in Education guidelines  Ensure that contracts of employment and associated documents are issued accurately and on time, including amendments, extensions and changes to contracts.  Oversee the issue and amendment of job descriptions and associated payroll action in each case. To oversee and administer the College’s Health Surveillance programme, including identifying individual and group needs, liaising with staff, managers and Occupational Health.  To provide generalist advice and guidance to managers and staff regarding absence management, referring and liaising to the College’s Occupational Health provider appropriately.   Handle routine and other correspondence as directed by the Head of Human Resources. Maintain accurate and effective computerised and manual HR records. Ensure that timely and accurate reports are produced when required. Assist with inputting and the development and maintenance of administrative systems. Carry out specific projects as required by Head of HR or the Vice Principal – Resources. Contribute effectively to the Human Resources team and assist colleagues in their absence or at times of peak workload.NOTE   This role profile is intended to provide an overview of the role in the context of the ambition of City College Plymouth.    The overview of responsibilities is listed for convenience and is not in any order of priority or significance.  It is agreed that the significance of different aspects of the role will vary at different times and that all accountabilities are of potentially equivalent significance.      Health and Safety The Health and Safety responsibilities associated with your post are as set out in the Organisational Arrangements appended to the Corporation’s Health and Safety Policy, and you are required to undertake, at the College’s expense, any training necessary or appropriate for the effective discharge of those responsibilities.   Equality and Diversity All employees are required to work in a non-discriminatory manner, and accept responsibility for the implementation of the College’s Equality and Diversity policy, throughout all personal contacts in the College and within your own area of responsibility. Sustainability As highlighted in the Sustainability Policy, the College recognises the need to act sustainably across all its operations in order to reduce our environmental impact.
