Estuary Housing Association is offering an apprenticeship as an Income & Allocations Assistant for a fixed period of 18 months. As an apprentice you will work within the Income and Allocations team.  You will also work closely with the Tenancy, Property Services and Central Services teams and Welfare Benefits Advisors.   What you'll doYou will be assisting the Allocations and Income teams with various administrative tasks. This will include monitoring former tenancy rent accounts and requesting payments, updating records on our computer systems, making and receiving telephone calls, sending letters and emails. You will mainly have telephone contact with our customers; however there will be some face to face contact within the office. You will have the opportunity to shadow various members of staff across our different teams and this will involve visits to customer’s homes.  This will enable you to gain a full understanding of the various aspects of Estuary Housing Association. You’ll be supervised and mentored by the Housing Manager – Income & Allocations.Your day-to-day tasks will include: Keeping our client record systems up to dateMonitor former tenancy arrears, contacting them to ensure they make the appropriate payment to clear the debt following policy and procedure and including taking legal actionProvide assistance to the Income Team by monitoring garage and parking space accounts and taking appropriate action where an account falls into arrears.Monitor mutual exchange cases and give advice and support to customers. Liaise with other Estuary teams and social landlords.Liaise with various teams within Estuary, Local Authorities, social landlords and other agencies via telephone, email and letterLearning legislation relevant to our area of businessFiling, scanning and photocopying.Apprenticeship framework – Housing Management (Level 2)You will be trained by the Chartered Institute of Housing, the UK’s leading professional body for the housing sector. You will also receive excellent training and experience in the workplace. You will need to be dedicated and committed to your study and be responsible for your own learning.You will be studying for a level 2 Certificate in Housing Management; most of the study will be completed online, although you will also attend several classroom sessions throughout the year, and will also complete a case study project as part of the qualification. In addition, you will be expected to attend other training identified by Estuary to help you develop in this role.This is a full time position - you will generally be working 4 days per week, and studying or attending study sessions 1 day per week. Entry requirementsEssential:You must have 5 GCSEs at grade C / grade 4 or above (or equivalent), including Maths and English (please note evidence will be required at interview)Excellent administration skills and time management, with the ability to prioritise activitiesAbility to use the software packages, i.e. Microsoft Word and ExcelUnderstand the need for total confidentiality (Data Protection).Desirable: Previous experience of working in a customer services, lettings or financial environment.Knowledge of different tenancy types in social housing or private environment.  Safeguarding & Recruitment                                       Estuary is committed to safeguarding and practices safer recruitment standards and expects all staff to share the commitment to safeguarding children and people with care and support needs.
