What is the purpose of the role?An experienced Inventory and Inventory Materials Planner is needed to join a growing logistics and supply chain team in Reading, Berkshire. Your role will form part of our Logistics Management Centre which is the in-house centre of excellence for the complex and diverse logistics functions within Thames Water. Due to expansion of the remit of the LMC, we are now looking to recruit a proactive and experienced Materials Planner/Analyst to support our growth plans. The creation of the Inventory Management Team function is a key component of our drive to improve efficiency and reduce costs.What makes this role unique?You will be joining an award winning supply and logistics team as well as being part of the larger Thames Water family. The Logistics Management Centre (LMC) is a central, single point of contact for the business. As a centralised operation, The LMC combines mobile equipment from strategic suppliers, hire companies, our partners and Thames Water-owned into one integrated unit. This allows us to meet customer demands and provide the most effective use of equipment across all company sites and operations, thus presenting an end-to-end, single view of logistics demand and capacity. This is a great opportunity for the right person to progress within the business and especially at a time where we are growing and expanding the LMC.What will this role involve?The Inventory Materials Planner will: Define MRP (Material requirements planning) parameters to ensure efficient ordering of materials. Plan all MRP activity to ensure the best approach (Minimum Order Quantities (MOQ), Economic Order Quantities (EOQ), min/max, safety stock etc.) Development and maintenance of MRP procedures and performance. Release MRP order to suppliers once validated. Build vendor relationship and product knowledge. Implement the New Product Introduction (NPI) process, obsolescence and replacements to ensure accurate data records. Maintain purchasing data for MRP materials. Analysis of the current inventory to identify opportunities for optimisation. Analysis of usage trends, especially seasonal trends, that require adjustments to inventory to meet fluctuations. Communicate with key stakeholders to ensure service levels are maintained/improved. Identify Strategic products and ensure Strategic products are held in appropriate quantities/locations. Develop reporting tools to provide visibility to managers/customers e.g. On time and in full orders, Vendor performance, shortages etc.What are we looking for?We are looking for an individual with relevant experience and extensive understanding of MRP methodologies. In addition you will have a wealth of Inventory planning/management and/or Supply Chain planning/management. You will be commercially astute with a focus on delivering results for the long term benefit of the business and well. Previous experience in SAP Inventory Management and Warehouse Management software is essential and is being highly numerate, analytical and detail oriented, with very strong Excel skillsThames Water information and salary detailsThis role is based at our head office in in central Reading. We are offering a salary of £24,000 to £28,000 depending on your level of experience.
