Centre for CommercialLaw StudiesLecturer in Banking and Finance LawRef:QMUL14607Salary: £40,865- £43,152per annum The Centre for Commercial Law Studies (CCLS)is an exciting place to work, teach and study – a postgraduate universitydepartment with a global vision that nurtures talent and encourages innovation.Established in 1980 by Professor Sir Roy Goode, it is one of the world’s leadingacademic institutions for the study of commercial law. Its primary objectivesare to provide high quality postgraduate teaching (LLM and PhD), to conductscholarly research of international excellence, and to contribute to theshaping of public policy and commercial practice. CCLS is international in its research andteaching. Our full-time staff come from all over the world, and, along withsupport from practitioners, judges and regulators, teach 1200 graduate studentsfrom some 80 countries. CCLS offers more than 200 courses on all aspects ofcommercial law, including arbitration, banking, finance, intellectual property,international trade, media, communications, shipping, insurance, regulation,ethics, and tax. CCLS’s principal location is Lincoln’sInn Fields near the Royal Courts of Justice and the financial Centre of theCity of London, but there is also a well-established LLM Programme taught byfaculty members in Paris, to which have recently be added LLM Programmes inSingapore (taught with the Singapore Management University) and Greece. Furtherprojects and collaborations are being developed in other areas of the world,including China. As an experienced Lecturer, you will contributeto the development of the Banking and Finance specialisation through teaching,assessment of students and related administrative tasks, and you will be ableto teach LLM and MSc courses in the areas of corporate finance, mergers andacquisitions, capital markets and banking law, together with contributing tothe development of new modules. You will work with colleagues in the Banking andFinance and in the Institute for Global Law, Economics and Finance to providestudents with a rounded experience of the sector. You will have a PhD in a relevantfield and/or equivalent professional experience, together with postgraduateteaching appropriate to the level of appointment. Excellent communicationskills including the ability to present specialist material in a logical,coherent and interesting manner, both to students and to fellow specialists,and good organisational skills are also essential. The post is a full time permanentappointment with a starting salary in the range of £40,865 to £43,152 per annuminclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, definedbenefit pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan. Candidates must be able to demonstratetheir eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylumand Nationality Act 2006.
