The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) is currently looking for two individuals with excellent public relation skills and a proven track record of creative communications to join our high performing team. Based in either our Nottingham or Bristol sites, the role of Media Manager is to promote the great work the agency is doing to make a positive difference to road safety across Great Britain. The role is extremely varied from handling media enquiries to leading on national media campaigns and overseeing external filming bids. Media managers are also responsible for managing our corporate digital communications channels including our social media accounts, email alert service and GOV.UK blogs. You'll need to work with a range of people across DVSA including our CEO, senior managers and operational staff. You'll work closely with colleagues within Corporate Communications to help plan and deliver campaigns. You also need to form good working relationships with the Department for Transport press office and media including national media outlets and trade press. You'll have direct line management responsibility for one or two media officers. You'll need to use your coaching and mentoring skills to help others reach their full potential. You'll directly report to our Head of Media, Abigail Britten. DVSA Head of Media, Abigail Britten, said: "This is a really exciting time for the team. We're extremely keen to build on this success and deliver more behavioral change campaigns over the next few years. If you want to feel like the work you do makes a real difference to people's lives and helps improve road safety this could be the role for you." The role will require going on an on-call rota as well as occasional travel and overnight stays. For more detailed information about this role, see the role profile attached to the advert. About you To be successful in this role you must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, in particular the ability to write clearly and simply, using plain English. You have experience in coaching and mentoring others to further develop their skills and knowledge. It is essential that you are flexible and determined in your approach to tasks and able to deliver a high standard of work, at pace. You must be able to identify key pieces of information, address any gaps and prepare concise statements that support the agency's messages within tight deadlines. You'll need a practical understanding of how print, broadcast and digital media work, including the media cycle, circulation and deadlines.
