We are recruiting for caring and passionate individuals to join our team as Call Handlers in our busy 111 call centre in Ipswich, working part time (minimum of 12 hours) across Friday-Sunday every week. We also have additional evening shifts available and can offer up to 30 hours per week, as well as overtime. As a 111 Call Handler, you will be answering inbound calls from members of the public in need of medical advice. Using both the NHS Pathways script software as well as your own persuasive skills, you will gain information from the caller to assess their situation and guide them to the most appropriate service for them. The patient may need to be given general advice, speak with a Clinical Advisor or be booked into an appointment with an available out-of-hours service. However, while we are a non-urgent service, some calls can be emotional, distressing or life-threatening, and there will be times when 999 services (such as an ambulance) may need to be despatched. This is a demanding but highly rewarding role, and we are looking for candidates who can not only empathise, but can also stay calm under pressure and help those in their time of need. You will follow the NHS Pathways license requirements and comply with all policies and regulations relating to clinical governance and patient confidentiality.
