NUFFIELD DEPARTMENT OF ORTHOPAEDICS, RHEUMATOLOGY AND MUSCULOSKELETAL SCIENCESOCTRU Clinical Trials Programmer (134114)Grade 7: £31,604 - £38,833 per annumWe have an exciting opportunity for a PHP Programmer to join the Oxford Clinical Trials Research Unit in the Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences, based in the Botnar Research Centre, University of Oxford.You will support Oxford Clinical Trials Research Unit’s (OCTRU) varied research projects through the creation and on-going support of highly scalable data centric applications. You will join the Core Programming team to integrate REDCap (Research Electronic Data Capture software) into OCTRU’s software portfolio and also contribute to the development, maintenance, support and validation of existing systems. PHP is the primary programming language used in the unit (using the Laravel framework and Drupal content management system) along with JavaScript and SQL. You will also provide a consulting service for the design and development of clinical trial systems as allocated by the Senior Trials Programmer and in accordance with OCTRU’s standard operating procedures.You will hold a degree, a recognised computing qualification or equivalent experience. Experience of programming in a PHP Framework, in SQL, and of programming in JavaScript with additional libraries (e.g. JQuery, Vue.js) is essential, as is experience of Web Hosting Management and Web Services (e.g. REST, SOAP). You will have the ability to manage simultaneous multiple projects, prioritise short and long-term goals and deliver within deadlines, as well as having the ability to analyse complex problems, develop and test solutions and make judgements under pressure. Previous experience of general computing support, and experience in providing computing support in a Clinical Trials Unit or other highly-regulated environments would be desirable.This is a fixed-term, full time appointment for 2 years.(A lower grade offer may be made (Grade 6: £28,098 - £33,518 p.a.) with commensurate reduction in responsibilities if a suitable candidate cannot be found to fill the Grade 7 position. We will then look to move to grade 7 after training and a satisfactory performance review.)The closing date for applications is midday on Friday 13 April 2018.
