Postdoctoral Research Scientist in Diabetes Genetics Wellcome Centre for Human Genetics, Roosevelt Drive, Headington, Oxford, OX3 7BN / Oxford Centre for Diabetes Endocrinology & Metabolism, Churchill Hospital, Headington, Oxford, OX3 7LE Grade 7: £31,076 - £38,183 with a discretionary range to £41,709 per annum                                                                                                                                              Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Scientist in Diabetes Genetics at the University of Oxford. You will be based at the Wellcome Centre for Human Genetics and the Oxford Centre for Diabetes Endocrinology & Metabolism.  You will form part of a highly-productive multi-disciplinary team leading international efforts to characterize the genetic basis of type 2 diabetes and its complications through use of large-scale genetic and genomic data. You will have responsibility for the analysis and interpretation of a wide range of data, including those generated from genome-wide genotyping arrays, whole-genome sequence, and functional sequencing data (e.g. RNA-Seq, ATAC-Seq).  Applications for this post should make explicit the extent to which existing computational and statistical skills will ensure immediate productivity.    You will hold (or be in the process of completing) a Ph.D/D.Phil in biochemistry, molecular biology or a closely related field with associated research experience. You will have demonstrable experience in the QC and analysis of large-scale genetic and genomic data. This might for example relate to genome-wide or exome array data including imputation with sequence-based reference panels and use of meta-analysis software. You will be expected to understand the key biological systems perturbed in type 2 diabetes, and have strong computational skills including familiarity with programming and scripting languages (Unix, R, PERL, Python). It is essential that you have excellent communication skills to support your integration within a multidisciplinary, international team.
