HMP Spring Hill's education department are looking for an experienced Cookery / Catering Lecturer to deliver Professional Cookery to a diverse group of learners within the prison. As part of the Milton Keynes College Offender Learning team you will help to develop a strong Professional Cookery programme that meets the needs of the learners, prison and Milton Keynes College.The Professional Cookery course is taught through a mixture of theory and practical sessions, where the men work in our staff MESS facility to offer a high quality restaurant experience for staff and prison guests. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated Lecturer / Tutor / Teacher to deliver high learner success, through effective teaching and delivery in Professional Cookery. This vacancy would suit a highly motivated teacher, with a can do approach to education. The ideal candidate will be a passionate and creative lecturer, who can thrive upon working within a challenging yet rewarding environment, who can offer skills & knowledge to our learners and guide them throughout their courses. Courses at Spring Hill are as above, with additional vocational courses.HMP Grendon is a unique Therapeutic Category B national prison housing approximately 220 long term, prolific (re)offending adult males. The Education Department works closely with our prison colleagues to deliver relevant long courses that help prepare learners for employment and positive community living upon release. As a successful candidate, you will: Have a relevant qualification at Level 3 or above (including Food Hygiene up to Level 2) A good basic general education including GCSE (or) equivalent) in Maths and English at Grade C or above. A teaching qualification (Level 4 or above). Assessor award. Verifier awards (desirable). Training or vocational experience in a relevant discipline/subject area and relevant up-to-date knowledge. Work collaboratively with the MESS Operations Supervisor, delegating areas of development for learners. Be familiar with the relevant health, safety and food hygiene regulations that come with running a kitchen operation within a restaurant. Proven track record of managing and supporting diverse groups of learners through nationally accredited programmes (desirable). Experience of working with students who may have little experience of education and training (desirable).
