The Children’s Trust is a national specialist centre for children with brain injury which is just south of London and close to the M25 (accessible via Junction 8, A217 to Tadworth. Also easily accessible from Clapham Junction, Sutton and Epsom)An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Professional Youth Worker to join The Children’s Trust. Based within Psychosocial Services, you will be part of a small, dynamic and highly skilled team providing a comprehensive neurorehabilitation service to young people and their families following acquired brain injury as well as supporting the needs of young people with complex health needs and those with neuro-disabilities across site.As a Professional Youth Worker, you will be responsible for helping to implement an exciting new Youth Strategy at The Children’s Trust to help us improve our services to children and young people who use our services. You will work with the children and young people directly and work with clinical and non-clinical colleagues to meet the emotional, social and leisure needs of the young people we support.You will play a key role in developing appropriate services for young people and this will include increasing their levels of participation in care planning, reviews and the development of a range of services on-site and in collaboration with partners in the community.This is a chance for an outstanding candidate to make a significant and lasting difference to the lives of thousands of children and families.The Children’s Trust is the UK’s leading charity for children with brain injury, providing rehabilitation, education, therapy and care at our national specialist centre in Tadworth, to children and young people from across the UK. We also offer services to communities around the country and online support for parents.Reporting to the Senior Quality Assurance Social Worker you will:Work with colleagues from a range of different professional backgrounds in order to deliver services to young people during their time at TCT which are responsive to their identified needs and goals.Act as co-ordinator of youth activities in collaboration with the Play Team, Care Team, Occupational Therapists and others in order to ensure that there is a timetable of activities across rehabilitation and school houses which meet the individual needs of children and young people.Work with the Advocate to take a lead role in developing opportunities for young people to express their wishes and feelings through individual and group sessions.Work with partner agencies to develop imaginative, value for money and effective services which promote inclusion, fun and the well-being of participants.Undertake internal and external training as and when required and in accordance with professional registration requirements and TCT policy.Act as lead professional in the development of a Youth Strategy in consultation with line manager.Work with the Leisure and Activities Co-ordinator to develop and maintain a directory of accessible community-based social and leisure services.We are interested in hearing from candidates who have:Minimum of at least 3 years post-qualifying experience as a professional youth worker.Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively.A commitment to delivering a high quality, evidence based service.Experience of working with children and young people with disabilities.A sound knowledge of youth work principles.Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary environment.For an informal discussion please contact Steve Nash, Senior Quality Assurance Social Worker on 01737 368 092 or via email at How to ApplyPlease complete the application form and include a supporting statement (see attached to this advertisment)Please note successful candidates will be contacted after the deadline of 19th April and interviews will be held approx. one week after (this will be confirmed at a later date)The Children’s Trust is fully committed to protecting children and young people.
