Sales and Marketing AssistantAn exciting opportunity for a self motivated individual with a passion for children’s books to join an award-winning independent children’s publisher based near Worksop. This wide ranging position will play a key role in supporting the Sales Manager and is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop a career in publishing.Handling all aspects of sales support, from making up sales presentations and samples to catalogue mailings, the successful applicant will also sell directly to selected customers in the UK and Ireland, locate new accounts, attend trade fairs, be involved with the marketing function and work with authors on launches and events.The person appointed will be responsible for making sure that their accounts achieve sales and budget targets as well as providing regular updates and information on new titles to all customers, planning and implementing sales and promotional campaigns, and ensuring the highest level of customer care and service. The successful applicant will ideally have some sales experience but applicants who believe that they have the qualities and ability to perform to the role to the highest standards and bring initiative and creativity to the position will also be considered. The role will at times be physically demanding as it may  periodically involve the construction of show stands. Applicants should also be willing and able to stay away from home when travelling and/or work occasional weekends should it be required. Key Duties Making up samples and sales presentation materials as required by both customers and sales managerEnsure sales team and agents are kept informed and supplied with necessary materials and informationHandle customer correspondence, quotations, orders and contracts in a timely and accurate fashionTrade event and show planningTrade show customer follow-up New customer research and development for both for domestic and International marketsRegular emails and phone calls to  existing customer base to develop relationships and achieve salesPotential to grow role to visit customers in the UK and Ireland Attend trade fairs in the UK and possibly selected international events as role developsWork with authors to promote publications and events Experience/skills required·         Excellent IT skills, including strong Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel·         Excellent time-management and organisational skills, particularly the ability to manage own workload and prioritise accordingly·         Strong communication and interpersonal skills·         Accurate, concise and engaging written and verbal communication·         The ability to work on your own initiative and solve problems·         A good eye for detail ·         Prior experience in sales support or publishing, and/or fluency in an additional European language would be an advantageThe closing date for applications for this role is Friday 18th May 2018, though interviews may take place throughout the application period.We regret that unsuccessful applicants will not be contacted.
