We are currently looking for Caretaker for School based in LS11 this is long term ongoing contact.Working hours:Working hours would be 8am - 13.00 then a break from 13.00 -15:30 then work 15:30 - 18.00. The candidate may be expected to work outside of these hours to suit the needs of the school.Rate of Pay: £8.45ResponsibilitiesManage specialist premises functionUndertake risk assessment of security risks to the school (grounds, premises and contents) including vandalism/arsonAllocation and monitoring of workOperate as part of management team, involved in planning, budget responsibilitiesLead on discrete areas within an agreed system of supervisionManage maintenance, security and facilities systems on school sites and premisesContribute to the planning, development and monitoring of premises services and supervision, training and appraisal of caretaking/cleaning staff and contractorsArrange for regular security checks to be undertaken and advise on how security risks can be minimisedManage fire safety equipment provision and scheduling of fire drillsManage provision of alarm systems, CCTV or surveillance equipment where appropriateLiaise with police, security and surveillance contractorsOversee the activities of external contractors on-site and monitor and report on associated budgetsMake arrangements for effective response to emergency call outArrange service and maintenance tendersManage routine maintenance, repair schedules and specialist repairsSupervise maintenance contractors and undertake regular site inspectionsIdentify defects and record repair and maintenance requirementsEnsure that heating and lighting systems are maintained and operatedProvide emergency access to the school siteUndertake specialist cleaning tasks.Coordinate deliveries to the school siteMonitor performance of service contractors and record performance against specified standards.Undertake budget monitoring & prepare costed plans for repairs/maintenance and building activities as requiredCommission the maintenance and upkeep of swimming pool and other specialist sports equipmentTake a lead role in planning, development and organisation of systems/procedures/policiesManage records, information and data, producing analysis and reportsBe responsible for creation and maintenance of purposeful, orderly and productive working environmentBe responsible for ensuring the maintenance/quality/safety of specialist equipmentBe responsible for the selection and management of resources, including management of a budget and regular audit of resourcesManagement and supervision of lettings including premises, lettings and associated income, building and projects etc.Manage Health & Safety risk assessments and dissemination and compliance with health and safety policies and proceduresManage a team of in-house site and cleaning support staffLiaise with outside contractors such as cleaning, catering and groundsmaintenanceLiaise between manager, Headteacher, support staff, and governorsAttend all appropriate meetings e.g. Site and Buildings or Health & Safety Committee, as instructed by the HeadteacherRepresent managed support staff at teaching staff/management/other appropriate meetingsUndertake induction/appraisal/training/mentoring for other staffBe aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security and confidentiality, reporting all concerns to an appropriate personEnsure compliance by self and others with all health and safety policies and proceduresEnsure safe use by self and others of equipment and materialsEstablish constructive relationships and communication with contractors and other agencies/professionalsRecognise own strengths and areas of expertise and use these to advise and support othersTreat all users of the school with courtesy and considerationPresent a positive personal image, contributing to a welcoming school environment which supports equal opportunities for allPrepare specifications for contracts for tenderSKILLS - EssentialAbility to organise, motivate and manage a team.Ability to relate to people both in person and on the telephoneAbility to use ICT effectivelyAbility to deal with day to day issues on own initiativeAbility to move heavy furnitureTo possess DIY skillsAbility to relate well to children and adultsKNOWLEDGE/QUALIFICATIONS - EssentialAwareness and understanding of basic safety and security measuresWorking knowledge of relevant polices/codes of practice/legislationKnowledge of Health and Safety procedures and precautionsKnowledge of COSHH regulationsWillingness to develop knowledge of use of ICT and other specialist equipment/resourcesAwareness of health and hygiene proceduresKnowledge of moving and handling proceduresParticipate in development and training opportunitiesEXPERIENCE - EssentialExperience of managing a teamHandyperson experienceCaretaking/site-keeping experience in a school or similar environment View full job description
