We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated scientific writer with proven writing skills to join the support team within the MRC Human Immunology Unit (HIU), based at the Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine, JR Hospital, Headley Way, Oxford. You will work closely with the Director of the unit, the Principal Investigators and all research staff and be expected to become familiar with all research currently being undertaken in the unit. Using your extensive background in science writing, you will advise and assist in the formulation, editing and submission of manuscripts, and assist research staff in the preparation of grant applications, abstracts, lay summaries, presentations, scientific posters, conference materials, funders scientific reports and any other required documentation. You will hold a doctorate (or equivalent) in life sciences and have an advanced understanding of immunology and knowledge of immune responses. You must have substantial and sustained experience of scientific writing in a research environment and editorial writing, with an in-depth understanding of scientific publication methodologies and examples of published work. The post is full time, part time considered (minimum of 20 hours a week) and is fixed-term for up 12 months in the first instance Applications for this vacancy are to be made online.
