1.      Aim of Post 1.1       Administrative/Medical Secretary support1.2       Participate, as required in staff training and post basic             development..1.3       Encourage interpersonal relationships between residents/            Patients, staff, relatives and visitors. People management            and recruitment.   2.      Function 2.1             To ensure that all non medical policies and procedures are  implemented e.g. Health & Safety, fire etc.  2.2              Inform senior staff of any significant variation from normal routine and investigate any report or any mishaps in accordance with unit policy. 2.3              Ensure control of unit supplies and ensure that these are used effectively and economically. 2.4              Inform senior staff on duty/on call of staff absences (with reference to manager) 2.5              Act for senior staff as required - non clinical.  2.6              Participate in relevant meetings within/outside unit.  3. Administartive/Management 3.0       Control and co-ordinate all activities within/outside unit. 3.1       Take all possible steps to safeguard the welfare and safety of patients, residents, staff and visitors by implementing Broad Acres polices and procedures and health and safety, emergency and fire.  3.2       Ensure that all equipment is maintained in good working order.  3.4       take every precaution to safeguard patients property and valuables, co-ordinating with manager and staff. 3.5       In liason with persons responsible for domestic duties and catering facilities, ensure that services to unit are maintained to agreed policies, procedures and standards.  3.6       Undertake word-processing and clerical services in support with owner/manager. 3.7       Maintain diary, arrange priorities and co-ordinate schedules of meetings, interviews and appointments accordingly.  3.8       Maintain petty cash. 3.9       Provide first point of contact for personal and telephone callers to the home.  3.10     Monitor and update home database, residents/patients and staff records to co-ordinate with New Care Standards Act.  3.11     Maintain filing system. 3.12     Prepare and dispatch invoices for payment and fees and sundry expenses.  4 Professional 4.1       Create sensitivity in staff to residents/patients needs and encourage recognition of the PATIENTS/RESIDENTS AS AN INDIVIDUAL. 4.2       Liase with GP on condition of patients/residents needs and encourage recognition of the patient/resident as an individual.  4.3      Maintain a high standard of care and staff morale by personal example (Professional appearance and conduct) 4.4       Ensure adequate exchange of information concerning client care. 5. Personal 5.1      Investigate and record complaints, resolving where possible,                        and refer/inform the appropriate officer.  5.2       Deal with minor infringements of discipline and keep the Manager informed of such infringements. Refer the more serious incidents to the appropriate staff.  5.3       Report to unit staff in accordance with Broadacres staff development and performance review policy. 5.4       In consultation with the Manager, advise theco-ordinator of Voluntary Services on suitable tasks for volunteers. 5.5       Liase with physiotherapists, senior consultants at Ipswich Hospital GPs, Social workers and other professional visitors as required.  5.6      Maintain a good relationship between residents/patients, staff, relatives and visitors.       6. Pre Basic Research 6.1       In consultation with senior managers, advise on the implications of structural alteration or introduction of new equipment. 6.2       Participate in trials of new equipment, care principles and techniques and report on data. 7. Education And Training 7.1 Introduce new staff to unit and familiarise them with policy and      responsibilities which may be specific to their job description.
