To find out more about us and what we do click here . The Senior Platform Engineer role at RDTThe Platform Engineering role is at its heart a DEVOPS role but with a wide reach and proactive approach. RDT is a Lean Software Engineering organisation and as such we focus on the key elements of delivery that make us highly efficient such as Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery and build and deployment automation. Unlike traditional Software houses we don’t just do this internally, but bake it into our products to ensure that we provide our customers with our tools and experience also.As part of the CTO team, that also includes Architecture and Innovation, the Senior Platform Engineer is a key role to shape, guide and implement the right platform for our products and teams.  The role focuses on designing, building and supporting the RDT Agile teamsto efficiently deliver the needs of the business and our clients along with driving innovation, consistency and efficiency in our software.The role will need to support and influence key stakeholders, such as product owners, developers and operational teams to ensure our product and architecture strategies are understood, supported and ultimately delivered.What does this job involve?The role will therefore have the following responsibilities:Manage Core development and delivery systems such as TFSManage builds, deployments, and configurations in production and pre-production environmentsDevelop an understanding of the CI/CD Pipelines to automate and enhance SDLCMaintain and implement industry best-practise for automated configuration, management and securityAutomate operations tasks to minimize manual steps to enable continuous integration and ultimately continuous deliveryPartner with development teams to develop operationally sustainable CI/CD solutionsDeliver a seamless CI/CD solutions on premise and on AzureMaintenance and configuration of source control environment, locally and in the cloudParticipate in problem solving and troubleshooting for the assigned applications, functional areas or projectsDesign and maintain monitoring, measuring and alerting systems Minimum, Essential & Desirable skills Minimum5+ years experience as a developer or devopsExperience with Windows operating system, networking and information security.Understanding of DevOps methodologies and concepts.Knowledge of .NET ecosystem, build and release tools Continuous Integration and Delivery experience Excellent verbal, written and design communication skills.EssentialKnowledge of CI and CD recommended practices and supporting tools (TFS, VSTS)Ability to build projects, run unit tests, run automated test framework within a CI systemExperience with artefact repositories (NuGet, MyGet, Bower, NPM)Experience with provisioning tools like Chef, PuppetExperience with manual and automated testing and quality practicesExperience with source code repositories, especially TFS and Git.Experience with automation in dynamic environments such as IaaS and PaaS (on premises, hosted and hybridStrong programing and scripting capabilities in a scripting language like PowerShell Physical & virtual server hardware, OS platforms, tool selection (VMware, containers)Strong experience with relational and non-relational databasesExperience in cloud computing, ideally with Azure.DesiredWorking knowledge of Visual Studio Team Services (CI, Release, ALM)Experience of working in Microsoft Azure and Azure Resource ManagerKnowledge of Distributed Systems and Micro Service Architectures.Experience of deploying, supporting, Service Fabric ApplicationsExperience configuring centralized logging and application monitoringExcellent RDBMA and SQL knowledge and experienceActive Directory, Certificate services, DNS, DHCPKnowledge of container virtualization and orchestration layers, like Docker and Service FabricGeneral SkillsAffinity for change.
