Agrees relevant KPIs with the Head of Operations and Development, including any changes required from time to time.Internal ControlEstablishes and actively maintains a system of internal structure and delegated authorities in accordance with good organisational practice appropriate to the DRC and in accordance with Board policy.Sets standards and leads by example.Risk ManagementIs responsible for reporting risk in relation to operational staff performanceIs responsible for reportingstrategic risk in relation to business from intelligence gained with strategic partners or from meetings attended.ComplianceEnsures that each service is compliant with funding criteria.Ensures all services are compliant with relevant legislation/regulation and with appropriate good practice.Ensures that contracts/agreements are read and signed by appropriate level of authority and that the criteriafeeds into contractual process/procedure. Operational PlanningAs an Operations Team manager assists in the production ofannual updates and revisions to the DRC’s Operational Plan.Delivers ad hoc updates and changes to the plan where circumstances require or the Executive Team requests.Monitors, assesses and reports to theHead of Operations and Developmentregarding the effects on the DRC plan of relevant developments at local, regional and national level in the voluntary and disability services sectors.Creates, develops and maintains relationships with key strategic stakeholders and partners to ensure growth and ready pool of appropriate partners.Managing peopleResponsible for direct reports performance using methodology conducive to DRC frameworkEnsures that direct reports treat employees according to the ethos and values of the DRC as set out in its policies and proceduresActs as a role model for the ethos and values of the DRC both internally and externally.  Mentors and coaches both direct reports and others in the application of the DRC ethos and values to managing the organisation. Operational Management TeamAdvises on staff development and learning opportunities.Actively contributes to the delivery of clear and cohesive direction and management to all aspects of the business.Contributes to Business development plans, bids and partnership ensuring that team and individual expertise is applied to Business Development.Marketing and Business Development (MBD) including PR/promotional activitiesIdentifies Marketing OpportunitiesAttends Market shaping , product development or events relevant to their servicesPromotes their services with collateral that has been approved by the Head of Operations and DevelopmentGives presentations to strategic and operational partnersContributes to Business development plans, bids and partnership ensuring that team and individual expertise is applied to Business DevelopmentEnsures that the DRC operations plan includes a comprehensive plan for all relevant aspects of operational managementContributes to the DRC strategic Marketing plan through the Operational teamOperational managementReports on staff development and learning opportunities.Actively contributes to the delivery of clear and cohesive direction and management to all services as a member of the operational management teamEnsures that the services of the DRC are recorded, monitored, evaluated, reported on and submitted (in any required format) to funding partners and other relevant partiesas required to inform them of the effectiveness of the work performed.Monitors and evaluates efficiency and effectiveness, as well as quality issues in operational delivery.  Maintains continuous emphasis on operational performance improvement.  Provides the Head of Operations and Development with relevant and meaningful reports on operational performance.  Service DeliveryEnsures all operational and any other major objectives and investments are prudently costed and evaluated, taking account of appropriate risks and the DRC’s objective of maintaining long-term financial stability.Ensures that financial controls arerobust at all times and that expenditure is managed through DRC procedures.Maintains a system of regular financial reporting that enables management to monitor and evaluate the success of the service.Financial performanceResponsible for monitoring P&L reports from each service and discussing impact with the Head of operationsResponsible for operating within agreed budget.  GeneralEngages in appropriate levels of Continuing Professional Development (CPD), as agreed from time to time with the Executive TeamUndertakes other tasks and responsibilities appropriate to the role, as specified by the Executive Team from time to time. November 2015 View full job description
