Oxford University Research Archive supports the deposit, discovery and delivery of the University’s research outputs offering a permanent and secure online archive for research publications, theses and research data. Oxford University Research Archive is an established service holding the records of over 200,000 research articles and supporting over 1 million visits per annum from around the globe. The Oxford University Research Archiveservice is of significant strategic importance to the University and offers the successful candidate a varied and interesting role in a rapidly changing environment.Oxford University Research Archive is built using open source software and is currently undergoing a major redevelopment. The software used includes Samvera, Fedora and Blacklight, and the role offers you the opportunity to actively contribute to these open source communities and to help shape the future direction of solution development.You will be joining an established development team and working with the project manager, technical team lead and subject specialists will be responsible for the design and development of application code to deliver the required service features. You will also be responsible for packaging your code, writing support documentation, release via open source repositories and transitioning software into production.With an undergraduate degree in an IT related subject, or equivalent professional training and experience, you will also have demonstrable experience of application development using an object-orientated programming language. Experience in requirements analysis, software solution design, and proven documentation skills are essential. You will be user-focused and have strong interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills. A proven track record of working within an open source community is desirable.This is a full-time, fixed-term post for 2 years.Owing to the nature of this post, candidates will be required to undertake a criminal background check as well as a financial background check.
